Yep, that is me. I get about two or three questions a month, but since they went off tour, it has slowed right down :jump

Rory! :thumb:

I never had the opportunity (before now) to thank you (and I didn't want to just mention it out-of-the-blue) but apparently you referred people to my site pertaining to the lyrics and I'm jumping on the chance right now to say thanks man.

Ok, I have a question for the experts. When the HIP play "Fully Completely" live, after the line "ignoring said same of my father", Gord introduces one of the band members (usually Paul). Anyone know when he first started doing this and the significance, if any, behind it?

One of the questions on the experts board is "why apple, zippo and metronome"

Rory's answer:
Hey there...

Great question. The song seems to be referring to pretentious celebrities, and the three names are pretentious celebrity names for pretentious celebrity babies. Case in point: Moon Unit Zappa, Apple Martin (Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter), etc.

Hope that helps!

Rory

I did a search and it doesn't seem like this was discussed here before, but I always thought of Apple Records, Zippo Records, and Metronome Records when I heard the lyric. Any thoughts?

I always thought that Metronome was the big music center they're supposed to be building in Toronto..

Wow joanie - that's a great theory! :thumb:

And Rory, not to shoot a hole in your theory (as we all know, the band wants the fans to interpret the lyrics anyway they want), but Apple Martin was born a couple of years after In Violet Light came out. I've tried to convince my wife that its proof that Chris Martin is a big Hip fan.
