B- Sides album
#1

I'd heard last year that the Hip were compiling music for a B-Sides album, But I haven't heard anything since.

Any news?

One would think it would include some of the following:

Montreal
Get Back Again
Radio Show
Waltz For Julliette
Vegas Strip
Psychadelic Ramblings of Rich Kids

Among others?

I think it'd be a nice addition to this mystical DVD/Hits package the elders once spoke of.

If it ever gets done, I'd love to hear cleaned-up versions of "If You Lived Here," "Times Are Passing Us By" and "Montreal."

And of course, if "Get Back Again" isn't on such a release: frowns all around.

What a marketing idea...I'd be there with cash in hand. Is this anything but rumor?

My guess is it's nothing more than a filthy stinkin rumor. But if it's true, I'd love to see the punk-rock version of So Hard Done By make the cut. Aside from the tracks already mentioned, I'm betting there are countless other b-sides we've never even heard. I remember when M@W was released, Paul mentioned that they had recorded enough material that they could have released a double album. Imagine how wonderful it would be to hear all those unreleased songs. If Pearl Jam can do it, so can the Hip.

Certainly something I've dreamt about since 1990 or so...

I would pay any price to hear properly recorded/mixed/mastered versions of:

- Waltz for Juliette
- Times Are Passing Us By
- Get Back Again (full version with drums, like Misty Moon show)
- She's Got What it Takes
- I Can Only Give You Everything
- Blonde Solid
- Reformed Baptist Blues
- Heart Attack Love
- It's Just As Well
- Crack My Spine Like a Whip

well, if this thing does see a release, i think for sure we'd see:

Night Is For Getting
Fighter Fighter
w/e the other leftovers from IBE are
Oh Honey
Problem Bears
Ultra Mundane
Forest Edge
So Hard Done By (alternate version)
Daredevil (alternate version)
Get Back Again
Montreal

y'know, come to think of it, they could probably even make a double disc out of something like this, but i wonder if maybe they might not release it until later on still in their career, i mean if they're working on new material right now, then what would the point be in releasing a b-side album at this point in time? why not wait til there's not much doin'?

Since we're coming up on 20 years with the Hip (kind of hard to comprehend isn't it?) - a double disc "anniversary" CD would be a great treat for the long time fans and it would also go multi-platinum (up here). Then, in another 10 years, they can put out the definitive multi-disc box set. Wishful thinking?

Coincidentally I just made an unreleased album yesterday. Couldn't put Night is For Getting on it though. . wrong format or something.

Can't remember all the songs included now, deleted them from computer. . but all the ones in this thread i think are on there anyway.

well TBD usually means to be determined, never seen TBC
if they are releasing a b-side album i hope the band looks at this sight for some great song selection. I hope that they would put some of the classics on like blonde solid, get back again, hopefully it won't only be the newer left over material. I know Rob Baker told me that they would have to dig into the fault to find all the old material, i hope they don't use the excuse that they couldn't find the material.
