I think it really sucks that all the contests run from the hip official site can only be entered if you are from Canada. then the times that singles can be bought via the internet, again, can only be obtained if you are a Canadian resident.
i think the hip's management give the worldwide fans a slap across the face when they dont enable ALL the hip fans a chance at winning contests.
anybody else have the same feeling?? :x

Problem is, the laws that govern contests are specific to one country.

Just think of all those contests Canadians can't win because they're exclusive to the US.

As mentioned before, it might have something to do with the tax laws. Here if you win something, no tax. There, doesn't Uncle Sam get a piece of any winnings?

That sort of thing might preclude a single contest from operating in both countries without specific branches... but I see no reason why the boys couldn't simply do that.

You obviously haven't felt the frustration that we Canadians have experienced in trying to enter contests that aren't Hip related. Most large and really good contests that I've seen on the 'net are American based and it's cheesed me off for many years to see "For USA residents only"

It works (or doesn't work) both ways and when it comes to the majority of contests, whatever they may be, the US has the advantage over Canadians many times over.
