Carolina got a couple decent players back, but in the long term this could be a big mistake. Have to see how good a player Johnson becomes.

You know a team is deep in offensive talent when you send Robbie Shremp to the minors....defense....meh.
Habs got Niinimaa. Good for defense, espeicially when Souray returns...as for offense, they had to give up Ribeiro...we'll see how it evens out.

The only problem with the Ribiero trade is it leaves us thin down the middle. Not that I was a fan of Ribeiro, Im glad he's gone but now that leaves us with Koivu-Plekanec-Bonk-Begin, that's not very good, god forbid Koivu gets seriously hurt or were totally fucked. Hopefully Gainey has something else up his sleeve, I hear trade rumors around Souray alot lately, he's in the final year of his contract and there's rumors he wants out...stay tuned.

I think Carbonneau is looking for the wingers to step-up and play a more prominent role...guys like Latendresse, Ryder, Kovalev, and Samsonov. I also think Kovalev can step in the middle sometimes too. It would be too bad if they lost Souray also...

tough to cheer for 'em this year with that new vomit-esque logo.
what in the hell were they thinking?

Time to get over it, they will be wearing the original blue and gold for 15 of the home games, anyway, and I think the playoffs. I have seen them play a preseason game with it and it is not as bad on the ice as it is, close up.

It's how they play that counts and they are still winning with it (5-1 in preseason).

The Toronto media keeps ripping on it.

They should spend more time worrying about actual hockey play and how the leafs will miss the playoffs and have nothing to celebrate this season except the 40th anniversary of their last trip to the cup! (or is it 39th?)

There's no doubt that Buffalo is going to contend for the playoffs this year. BUT, they're way overrated. Everybody has them 1st or 2nd in the east. They'll be good, but not that good. They made a nice run last year, and that's fine. This year, I don't predict the same thing.

p.s. Preseason counts for nothing last time I checked.

Cannot believe that it has been a year since I started this post... has to be some sorta record! Hawks have improved, but I am sure they'll be at the bottom of the division again, especially since it looks like STL has finally gotten their shit together...

I'm not so sure about that. Guerin, Tkachuk, and Weight? Sounds to me like a recipe for disappointment. I'm sure they'll do better than last year - but that's not saying much. A lot of it may also depend on Manny Legace.
