I listened to the entire album again this morning as I worked out. Honestly, I think from the top down this is a nearly perfect album.
Curious as to how many others would include it in their top five. And if anyone would agree in that, with the exception of a few songs (M@W, Dire Wolf), this album is light years ahead of M@W and IVL.

i agree that IBE is great but i just thinkt that it's so different from IVL that i hesitate to say that it is head and shoulders above it.
IVL has such a chilled out relaxed type of feel in my opinion... and IBE is pretty angry and rough. love both... love one more than the other at different times.
just my thoughts.

I put it in the # 3 spot for me, behind Day For Night and Phantom Power.
Favorite Hip albums is such a curious thing. I remember back when Road Apples came out, I didn't care too much for it. I thought the Hip had really mellowed, and I wasn't happy. Then Fully Completely came out and I near shit my pants. After about 1/2 a year of listening to nothing but Fully, I was on a road trip with nothing but a Road Apples tape in my car. I ended up listening to it about 10 times on that trip and it completely blew my mind. It was at that moment that I vowed to never give up on a Hip album based on the first few listens. With that in mind, the Hip have never let me down.
BTW, Road Apples was my favorite until PP came out. Day For Night didn't become favorite until about 4ish years ago...and it remains my fav. to this day.

I say it's number two, hard on the heels of Day For Night. The bottom feeders are IVL and M@W, in that order. I'm one of those who sees IBE as an astonishing return to form from a band that lost the plot a bit, at least in the studio, during its last couple of outings.

I tried and couldn't decide... IBE is definitely top 3 for me... M@W, IVL and EP are probably the bottom 3... what a hard call!

I love IBE, but they don't approach DFN and Phantom Power for me...
It hangs in there fighting for number 3 w/ RA, UTH and yes, IVL
I really enjoy IVL for the most part, its different sounding, but i really like it and have always defended it.

It's in my top 3 for sure...it is perfect from start to finish. I haven't been able to listen to another CD since I got it. And I luckily have a job where I can listen to music while I work - fantastic! :thumb:
1 - Up To Here
2 - Phantom Power
3 - In Between Evolution

Hi, all. This seems like a safe spot to introduce myself to the forum. (There seems to be a high number of posts chastising posters - either because of the forum rules or because people don't want to read any criticism - so I'm a little trepidacious.) But here goes:
1) Day for Night
2) Phantom Power
3) Fully Completely
4) In Between Evolution
5) Up to Here
6) Road Apples
7) (TIE) IVL, M@W, Trouble at the Henhouse
8) The Tragically Hip
I love the top 4, and like them all, save for the EP (though Werewolf and Evelyn are so bad they're good).
Not to overstep my bounds on the first post, but (I politely ask) has any thought been given to further breaking down the forum categories? It might be easier to keep track of when we repeat threads. Just a suggestion.
Cheers,
John

:welcome to the 'base, John! People are people and we all have our foibles and peculiarities; things that don't seem to bother some some people seem to upset the hell out of others. Everyone here is pretty cool but occasional disagreements in any family are a given.
No need for trepidatiousness (cool word 8) ) just keep this point in mind and if you ever feel chastised, don't take it personally.
As for further breaking down the discussion categories, Lance would be the one make that decision but I think the general user-preference is to try not to repeat threads in the first place. The search function works pretty quickly and covers pretty much everything. It's a valuable tool, especially for questions like "how does this Bit Torrent thing work" or "which DVD program is the best"; practically every question like these has been answered and discussed in great detail and it's a lot faster to find the answer than waiting for someone to respond, usually with a link to the previously posted detailed answer.
Rcok on! :thumb:
