Black Crowes- The Lost Crowes
#1

Is this worth buying? I don't consider myself a Black Crowes fanatic, but I do own three of their albums and I enjoy a lot of their stuff. I've read some fantastic reviews of these discs, and I'm just wondering whether or not it's for hardcore collectors only.

Judging by the lack of responses, I take it nobody has bought this yet. I guess I'll just go ahead and pick it up. I've been on a bit of a Black Crowes kick lately, and ya can't really go wrong with anything they do.

I plan on getting it but I have yet to see it. I heard the release was delayed because of a production flaw. Is it out now?

I saw one copy at HMV the other day, but perhaps it was one of the defective copies and they just forgot to take it off the shelf. I just checked the Rhino Records website and it says the release date is now Sept. 26th.

You could just listen to your Trews album...they are Canada's version of the Black Crowes...except I don't think the Trews' lead singer had his wife leave him for a hook-nosed funny man

So I picked this up yesterday, and it's excellent. The first disc, titled "The Tall Sessions" was recorded in between their second and third album, and contains a few songs that eventually ended up on Amorica, plus 8 songs that I've never heard before. It's especially cool to hear slightly different/less polished versions of three of my favorite Crowes tunes: A Conspiracy, Wiser Time, and Cursed Diamond.

Disc 2 ("The Band Sessions") was recorded right after they finished touring for Three Snakes and One Charm, and I assume the songs were probably written on the road. All 10 songs are great, and you have to wonder why they never released it. Overall the entire collection is amazing, and even if you're just a casual fan of these guys, I highly recommend checking it out.

Cool,
Thanks for that info. I saw it the other day, but it was at HMV in First Canadian place, there prices are aways jacked up and it was 25 bucks, I know FS and BB had it for $19 so I will try and get it from there this weekend.

Yeah, HMV's prices are usually pretty ridiculous. I bought mine at Best Buy for $19. I didn't even bother checking with HMV.

The latest news is that Chris and Rich have been busy writing new material in between touring, and we'll probably hear a new studio album in '07, despite the recent loss of certain band members. I'd post the article, but I can't remember exactly where I read it.
