Snoop and the Doors!
#1

This makes me sick to my stomach, why oh why did you do it Ray!!!!!!!!! :nooooo http://www.thedoors.com/music/snoop_vox.mp3
Im ashamed to post this. I hate when bands of old take great classic songs and remix them with todays morons, and turn these great rock songs into some dance mix shit aaarrrrrggghhhhhhh! :x
Perfect example: when Pdiddler did that remix of Kashmir, I wanted to dig a hole and bury myself in it, or the Elvis remixes on both greatest hits albums......Im gonna go puke.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

What would Snoop do if someone said something to his face? The guy is about 7 feet tall and about 150 pounds. The guy is a burnout. Oh, sorry I forgot who I was talking about. I wouldn't say anything to him because he'd pull out his gun and shoot me like the thug he is. There's nothing tougher than carrying a gun. haha What a bunch of useless bums those thug rappers are.

What an insult and disgrace to the classic song. It's an atrocity that stuff like this and the Kashmir thing happen.

actually Snoop loves Canada, and he's played shows from coast to coast, Kamloops, Whistler, Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Saskatoon (possibly Regina), Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and possibly QC and some East Coast places, that's a lot more than he had to, and it was mighty cool of him, sadly there was no Sudbury date.

I didnt start this topic to bash snoop, he's good at what he does, Im not a big rap fan myself. My beef is with taking great rock n roll classics and remixing them into dance songs they sound like crap and I cant believe Ray, Page and others let this happen, I hate it.

Does anyone know anything about the laws surrounding this type of thing? Does a songwritter have to give permission for their work to be used? Can anyone remake any song as long as they pay roalties? Do the rules governing sampling differ from the rules about simply covering? I've wondered about this stuff before, but have never known the facts. I don't know what would be worse, that some of this stuff is made, or that some of the seemingly great artists would agree to let it be made.

The Verve remade a Rolling Stones song, used the hook and wrote Bittersweet Symphony, a wonderful and tragically poignant song...and they got their asses sued out from under them. They had to pay back every dime of the royalties from that release even though they gave most of it to charity!! So the Stones are a little richer and the Verve are nonexistent.

Then Puffy comes along and DESTROYS Kashmir, and nobody is up in arms. I know, I know, it's not the same thing...but it was still a CRIME against music!
