I played a men's league game last night and Barnaby played for the other team. And we won 8-5. He had 4 points but it is sad that this is what it has come to as far as what some of these guys are doing right now. I guess he wants to spend more time with the fam while he can.

by the way matt barnaby is my favorite hockey player of all time. I was in a local mall once and he just came up to me and said HI and asked how i was doing. I guess i must have met him somewhere prior to that but i cant remember. He's a great guy.

Matthew Barnaby might be my favourite Ranger (sorry, I can't help but forever associate him with those underachievers)...because he makes Zdeno Chara look like The Incredible Hulk. I once saw Barnaby challenge Chara - as he always does with players who are surprised he'd bother - and Chara was just pummeling with one hand while using the extraordinary reach of his other arm to hold Barnaby out away from him, swinging at the air. After Chara made his point, he yanked down once on Barnaby's jersey and MB went down like a house of cards.

Wow! I'd always just assumed that the only fans of Barnaby were his parents.

He plays with A LOT of heart. Not the most skill in the world, but the perfect player to fit the role he plays. Always smiling and ticking off the other team, even when he is fighting he is laughing! He'll even come up with some big goals when you least expect it. I remember the hat trick he scored in the playoffs in his last season with Buffalo. It was great, I think it was against Montreal. The Avs are my second fav team, big Forsberg fan, and I was happy to see him go there last year. Heck, he even faught Peca at Peca's own wedding! 100% fact. Priceless.

Well, since he's a "love 'em or hate 'em" kind of player (like Darcy Tucker), we're never gonna agree. The Barnaby I know is the guy who is always chirping and then holds on for dear life when someone actually forces him to drop the gloves. Did Barnaby sucker-punch Peca? Because that's the only way I can see Barnaby winning any fight.

I didn't say that Barnaby won, more of a wrestling match and no sucker punches, just exchanging of words that got a little out of hand with all the booze present. I have a few tapes of Sabres fights and believe it or not, there are times when he can really throw em. After watching about 8 hours of fight tape, I can say that he wins just as many as he loses. Maybe not today, but when he was a bit younger, he was absolutely fearless. He is more of a hold on, chirp and stick one in when ya can type. That is part of his strategy. He also takes them well. I do remember when he took on Lindros at the Aud and just got throttled. He wasn't smiling after that one, especially at the end when Lindros kicked his legs out. He has pounded on Graves a few times. All in all, he is definitely a love/hate player. And for the record, I do hate Tucker! I am middle of the road on Barnaby. I wish he could have stayed in Buffalo longer though.

Dude, I'm a Leaf fan and I dislike Tucker too! Not as much as I loathe his lover Corson, but he is BY FAR my least liked Leaf.

Ever watched Jerko Ruutu in Vancouver? He's the new Barnaby - except for the fact that he won't fight at all. Any of us who played the game growing up know how irritating those types of players are. :rambo: Confusedcratch:

Tucker's your least favourite Leaf? How about Nik "I'll draw a penalty with a STUPID move when it can hurt us the most" Antropov? He seems like the clumsiest oaf on skates, with a brain to match.

Or how about Wade Belak, who decided to practice his golf swing during a game and used another player's head for a ball?

I'm convinced Antropov's agent has pictures of Pat Quinn doing something inappropriate. It really is the only explanation for the number of chances he gets to "prove" himself. Mercifully he's hurt too often to impact the Leafs negatively.

And Belak simply doesn't play enough to warrant an opinion. He's just there.

But Tucker. Tucker drives me nuts. He proved in junior that he has talent, but for some strange reason he's abandoned that talent and instead has decided that he's going to make an ass of himself as often as possible. His constant whining and diving is extremely irritating and just makes me wish the Leafs had never traded for him.

Reminds me of the fight Chara got into with Bryan McCabe last year. Chara threw Caber around like a rag doll. I'm a Leaf fan, and even I had a big laugh at that one... one of the funniest and wackiest things I've seen in a long time!
