Funny DJ Moments
#1

Just found an old tape of the Q107 WAP for Phantom Power. It's from June of '98, and there's an ad for Hungry Man Cogan's drive-time show.

It went like this:

Cogan (Answering the phone): "Hello, Hungry Man."

Some excitied dork who thinks he's called 102.1: "Hey man, Did I win?! Did I win?!"

Cogan: "Uh... yeah, you sure did! You're our Big Winner!... What's your name!"

Dork: *bleeped out,* Ah man, I can't believe I won, I've been calling all day!"

Cogan: "Well congratulations man. All ya gotta do now is come on down to Younge street (The Edge's offices) and pick up your prize. Just tell 'em Hungry Man sent ya."

Dork: "Hungry Man? Okay, will do, thanks so much!"

Cogan: "What's your favourite radio station?"

Dork: "One Oh Two Point One, THE EDGE YAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!"

Cogan: "That's right... alright see ya later winner. Hurry on down to Yonge sreet."

Dork: "Okay man"

Cogan: "Okay, later big winner."

Dork: "Bye"

Laughter fills the studio as Cogan and his producer yuk it up. The Q107 tag line then ends the ad.

A pretty funny DJ moment... any others?

I don't have any of the transcripts, nor do I remember the shows well enough to transcribe them, but Preston and Steve on Y100 (Philadelphia) have to be one of the best duos in radio. One of the rival stations, Q102 loads up on "war of the roses" and fake mass-produced crap, where as Preston and Steve are just sarcastic, typical Philadelphians. Funny stuff. Here's the link. :thumb:

Isn't there one circulating the 'net where a husband is called up (not knowing his wife is listening silently on the line) and told that he's won a dozen roses that can be sent to anyone, and the woman he asks to have them sent to is not his wife - so she flips out about what a lying a**hole he is and how now she doesn't feel bad about "f**cking his brother"?

My favorite funny DJ moment has to be from Don Geronimo from the Don and Mike show. I don't remember the topic but he tried to come up with something really deep and he said

"Opinions are like cowboy hats"

The man never is really speechless but at that moment he was because he realized what he had said and he couldn't finish the statement.

I have a feeling some of you will have to had been there for that one. It was funny.

My second favorite funny moment was when Don Geronimo made up my favorite way of saying the lord's name in vain, and I ain't talking our 'lord'.

Don came up with "For the love of Christ who can't get a seat in the skybox"

Once him and his son Bart were at the super bowl and got kicked out of the press box because they were wearing "game apparel" and not properly dressed to be in the press sky box. The guard was a real dick about it too and they both had passes.

Don summised(sp?) that if Jesus were to have shown up for the super bowl he would have not been allowed into the sky box because he was not properly dressed.

Hence, "for the love of Christ who can't get a seat in the skybox"
