The NFL called the intro "inappropriate and unsuitable for our 'Monday Night Football' audience."
(a) Exactly. The vast majority of beer swilling football watching men are disgusted by naked ladies.
(b) Do the people who complained not see the beer commercials that air every single commercial break? There's more T&A during MNF commercial breaks than the average Friday night at Tommy Lee's house.

Geez, that is pretty tight. How about everytime there is a stoppage in play and some camera man zooms right onto a cheerleader.

I do feel you on the air of hypocrisy, because it's there - but in regards to your points, I will say:
In addition to beer swilling men, there are also eleven-year-olds; 9 p.m. is prime-time, after all. The parents who try to control what programming their children see might 'give in' to MNF, and expect them to see sports and not 'Desperate Housewives'. True, the ads are as risque as that intro., but the NFL isn't going to go after the sponsors and the ads that the network sells time for, a) because the NFL propably has less control over ad content, and b) because those sleazy ads don't directly feature NFL teams, players, etc.. The league can and will, however, make as statement regarding the programming that the network itself airs as part of the actual NMF programming. Ads don't depict TO missing games for a romp in the pink, and show lusty nudes thowing themselves into NFL players, in uniform, no less.

Um...yeah...and "Desperate Housewives"
airs in primetime: 9/8 Central on Sundays.
But all you men out there, keep swilling beer
in the presence of your nine and eleven year old children...that's a
great example to set; get plowed in your living room while watching a bunch of sweaty guys chase another one until they catch him and force him to the ground, so they can penetrate his end-zone before he pentrates theirs.
Hey wait, that sounds gay: football must be gay; football in un-American 'cause it's gay. Football should be banned!!

Let me get this straight... there was a shot of a naked woman, waist up from the back, and people are complaining about this? Why? You've got to be kidding me... I dare anybody to find more 'wholesome' entertainment on the television at 9:00 PM on either Fox, NBC, or CBS. Jesus, just watch the six o'clock news on Fox Detroit... there's a real treat... great for the kids... I'm with J-Monster, he hit the point... has the American public (and I say American specifically, because as far as I can tell Canadians don't seem so repulsed by the idea of nudity or sex; at 11:00 PM my community channels turn down-right raunchy) become so desensitized by murder and violence that it can only truly find social gratification by objecting to the backside of a woman, which in all honesty, I think I've seen on Friends, Seinfeld, and 'The Little Mermaid'... has anybody seen the Lindsay Lohan video? Her members are screaming for air and her top sure seems to feel generous... Hell, I'm sure Mr. Average Joe has taken Little Timmy to Hooters for chicken wings on occasion; if everyone objects to this, why don't they just turn off the television... these people know whats on prime time television. This ain't no bible show... theres your wholesome entertainment... that or Country Music Television...

If you wouldn't mind him seeing heaving chests every time a cheerleader does her thing, why would you have a problem with a crappy show that dabbles in innuendo he probably wouldn't even get?
The United States gets more repressive every day. In Quebec I saw a topless woman at the centrepiece of a billboard cautioning people against the perils of skin cancer, and it was one of the most effective and TASTEFUL examples of a play on sexuality that I have ever seen. The Americans stifle and repress six ways from Sunday, and so the examples of sexuality that are created are profane, derogatory and tasteless - mostly because the only time people can accept it is when it's crass and juvenile because it makes them feel as though anything involving sexuality is dirty.
