Very interesting, thanks...oh, and what constitutes a 'unique' song?

What I meant by that is that there were 53 different songs played. There were 641 songs played in total, but the sets were made up of a combination of those 53 different songs.

If my calculation is correct, they've recorded 105 different songs on 10 studio albums. This tour they played 53 of them.

If you eliminate the 8 songs on the EP (we're never hearing those again!), and account for the fact that an unreleased song was played (Fighter Fighter), that's 52 out of 97 songs. They played 53.6% of their post EP catalogue. Not bad. I'm one of those with the opinion that they could expand their repretoir a bit, but hitting 53 songs ain't too shaby.

Wow, those are some set of stats. Pretty cool to look at that break down.

Not bad at all. I don't know how anyone can whinge about this.

I went to eight shows (Det, Cle, Wsh, Phl, Den, Chi, Tol, GR) and saw/heard 48 of the 53. I missed out on Lionized, Locked, DD, So Hard, and NOiB. Of these, I've seen all except NOiB at previous shows.

I am completely happy with the shows I attended and will try to go to more if they tour again in 2005. This might be difficult sine I'm moving to Denver which is out of driving range for most everywhere. Here's hoping there will be a date in Boulder or Ft. Collins.

edit: 48 of 54. Did not see Twist.

nice work, that's interesting to see. i'll have to agree that it's hard to complain about setlists when they played over half of their songs on this tour.

Curious to see which of the 13 songs on IBE they haven't played yet, as according to your stats they have done 12.
I suppose I could scour through them all myself....but I'm lazy.
Goulet!!!

Here 'tis:

Vaccination Scar: 30
Summer's Killing Us: 30
It Can't Be Nashville Every Night: 30
Gus: The Polar Bear From Central Park:30
Heaven Is A Better Place Today:27
As Makeshift As We Are: 21
Goodnight Josephine: 19
Mean Streak: 16
You're Everywhere: 12
One Night In Copenhagen: 8
Are We Family: 8
If New Orleans Is Beat: 2

For a total of 233 IBE songs played. It looks like "The Heart Of The Melt" is missing.

Can anyone confirm that? I'm sure I remember someone mentioning that Sinclair was planning to slip it in one night. Did we ever get that song played? As stated earlier, I just copied the setlists from thehip.com, so there is a chance that these stats could be off by a song or two.

Thanks. When I get the chance I'll go back through the show reviews and check the fan posted setlists against the ones that I've got.

I don't feel like starting another setlist debate--and really, when you look at those stats it's hard to argue that the band doesn't mix things up at least a little bit. As a point of comparison, however, I'll just throw this one out there. Last year I saw Pearl Jam five times. Two of those five shows were back-to-back nights in Toronto and Montreal. How many different songs did they play at those two shows, not counting improvs? Fifty-three. Only repeats: "Better Man", "Even Flow" and "Save You". Now, granted, Pearl Jam isn't the best comparison...I mean, no one mixes it up like they do. Still, in the name of raw data, I figured it was worth a mention. 8)

Quote:If my calculation is correct, they've recorded 105 different songs on 10 studio albums.

EP = 8 Songs
U2H = 11 Songs
RA = 12 Songs
FC = 12 Songs
D4N = 14 Songs
TATH = 12 Songs
PP = 12 Songs
M@W = 14 Songs
IVL = 11 Songs
IBE = 13 Songs

Total - 119 Songs - 8 from the EP gives them 111 songs

Slightly off but no worries!! None the less, a great US tour!!!
