Hey all.......so i clicked on the link in the downloads area here and watched the latest Hip video for vacination scar..(if ya haven`t seen it yet go check it out)....I.M.H.O.......I kinda found that it didn`t really represent what I feel the Hip really are all about...it was more to promote the artist that did the cover drawings more than anything...which is cool in a way as i find his work somewhat entertaining.....but there was no real uhhmmmn focus on the Hip themselves as a band.....what does everyone else think?.....cheers

I watched the video when they posted it on the official band homepage and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't what I expected at all but that's why I enjoyed it so much.

I was surprised at the video when I saw it, its not like anything else they've done. I liked the video itself, but I didnt feel like it suited the song visually, something was just off about it, thats just my 2 cents. I Love vaccination scar but I dont think they went well together....? Maybe Im way off, I dont know? anyone else feel the same? :?

While I love the song and love the video, I also don't think that the two are as suited for each other as they should be. I think the video could've worked better with another song. Love the visuals of it, though.

I dunno. I loved the Hip's videos in the way it was the band playing but the video also told a story, like for Nautical, Locked, and Bobcaygeon. Scar is a great song, but it just didn't seem to go with the video.

They said they were sick of seeing their "tired old asses" on the TV screen so they decided not to be in the video. I like the video, it's cool and I think it set the mood for IBE.

I thought The Darkest One was pretty funny, that was a cool video, had me laughing. But I like how Locked.. and Nautical Disaster and Thugs had like a story attached to them, wether real or not I like those kind of songs, they make for cool videos. :wink:

Nautical Disaster is awesome...but so is Little Bones. I know it's really abstract and has nothing to do with the song itself, but I love it. One of my favourite photography shots is Bobby playing guitar in the back of a pickup truck, but the camera is focused on his reflection in a glass building as they speed along.
Darkest Ones, along with being the best song by far on IVL, had one of the best videos I've ever seen. Absolutely classic. I laugh so hard when Gord and the guys are stumbling around with the engine block. I think the only video that tops this one for pure entertainment is Pascal's Submarine. Nobody ever talks about it but I love it.

I'm quite fond of Good life too, it's very simple. Of course, can't forget Poets, but I think Gord tries a LITTLE too hard in that one and I like Pascal's but I don't count that in the hip video category.

I really liked the videos for Bob Caygeon, Poets and Good Life, I also really liked the video to Gords solo "Chancellor"

I can't stand the video for Good Life...Gord is lip-synching a much heavier song. He's completely overacting. Just like with Bobcaygeon, this mellow song should never have had the band performing it. Those clips with Gord alone in the bare room and driving his car, mumbling almost as if in a daze, were devestatingly effective. Having him flail around to such a slow, lazy lilt is ludicrous. That, and the concept sucks.

I wouldn't say that the "Good Life..." cocept sucks, it's just sort of...obvious. They're weakening (for cash, easy work, status, etc) in a very controlled way. I'm not saying that it's obvious in the way the Men At Work video for Down Under is, but there is some room for more originality.
