If any of you get a chance to put that question out there to any of the band or management at any of these upcoming shows us europas would be mighty grateful. The summer is killing us over yonder not knowing.
Otherwise my ass is gonna have to cross the water before they make the victory arena lap to Canada.

they toured europe on the IVL tour. shit.. they played more euope dates than canadian dates. (i am exagerating, but you get the picture)

Well I was all geared up to see the Hip show in Cardiff, UK during the IVL tour but of course they had to cancel it, which broke my heart something terrible but to be honest at the time I was extremely short of cash so the tickets refund soothed my disappointment quite significantly... So I'm really looking forward to them coming back to the UK and actually turning up this time, and what would be super-fab was if they were also one of the support acts for REM in the Millennium Stadium next summer, seeing as I already bought tickets for that gig. Vain hope, I'm sure, but gives me something to daydream about other than large lottery jackpots.

I was on the train down to Cardiff when I got the cancelled message.
Bit of a damp yellow chip moment to say the least, especially as I never actually found out the reason for the sudden change of plan (obviously valid, but I am turning into my mother and need to know everything)
Thankfully I was staying with a friend down there, rather than in a hotel, so all I lost was the train fare from Newcastle.
Done the London (UK) show twice, but wallet isn't big enough to cover a trip trans-A

They did play London and a lot of European dates, but the Cardiff show cancellation was due to a death in the family (that's what the venue said). There has even been speculation in other threads that "one night in Copenhagen" might have something to do with getting such news (but this is obvious speculation only).
Would LOVE to see them back in Europe. If any of the fans travelling around the states have a chance to ask the band if it will be happening, I know we'd love to hear any news.
They are supposed to be licensing the record for release in Europe sometime soon, which would obviously help. I think they have made their strongest record for some time and it would actually go down well with the critics (this is the only way for a band like the hip to get further attention in the UK... a few strong reviews and people pay attention. Just look at how many major music mags are on the shelves in the UK). They need to license the record and a put a publicist on the PR case -- that's it. I'm convinced it would yield great results for them. People in music circles know who they are here, they just need to be reminded and pointed in the direction of an album that is getting positive press. I’m not talking about cracking the Top 10, but getting the deserved following from “informed” music fans that bands like Wilco, or Grandaddy get over here (there are countless examples). These are not young, or “pretty” bands – they, like The Hip, put out great records and gain a following through a bit of music mag press.
If you are reading Gord Sinclair, get on your manager to make it happen.
