Great game. Even Aki Berg and his devilry couldn't derail Team Canada on this night.
I'm sure Gord and the Boys are hammering out a new version of Fireworks to mark the occasion.

That trophy looks like it needs to be taken out of the wrapper. You could see the players looking at it in a state of amusement.

Did Vinny look like he just didn't care about anything? He wasn't smiling when he won MVP, he wasn't smiling when he awkwardly took the (hideous) trophy, etc. I don't know if he was just so relieved or whatever but he didn't look very excited.

the problem with canada winning any sort of major international hockey tournament is that happiness isn't the sentiment felt once the prize is won but rather we feel relief.
the expectation is #1 and anything less isn't okay.
the players don't seem extatic because their just content that they've silenced the critics.
don't get me wrong, i'm thrilled as hell, i'm just speakin' what i think the player feel.
Great tourney and hopefully we'll be seeing some more hockey this year at some point

Well, the excitement wasn't quite the same as when Canada won gold in the Olympics, but an exciting night none the less.
BTW, I love how the trophy has to at least somewhat look like a cup... otherwise how would the players be able to properly skate around the ice 'n pass it off to teammates?

No doubrt about it. Maybe they were unwilling to give it to a guy with an already storied career, but c'mon, this guys has bounced back from 2 years retired and 2 years being injured to the Lindros-like point of embarassment to be a player with not only heart but also grit.
Lemieux was MY MVP, I don't care what the officials said.
