I am glad everyone enjoyed the my post from Neil's book. (Took me forever to transcribe it!)
I am a huge Rush fan, saw them twice this past tour, so you can imagine my surprise when a member of my favorite band says he likes my 2nd favorite band's work.
I cannot wait to read what else he has to say about the Hip.
One thing is for sure...whether or not the Hip went on tour with Rush back in the early '90s, both bands in my opinion do things there own way. Rush has always been known to write and perform songs that they like to play. Not what the record company wants, not what the fans want but what they feel is best for the band. I think the Hip are the same, and that is very hard to find these days. Now a days, if a record company can't get your song on MTV TRL, they probably consider it a flop.
Someone mentioned they felt Rush was overrated...in my opinion a band is overrated when there is a lot of hype but no substance in the music. The hype will disappear, but its the music that keeps the band around. I think the influence that Rush, and the Hip, have had on other bands as well as the listeners is undeniable.
Looking forward to the Hip in Rochester...

FYI the guitarist from my cousin's band saw them at the Townehouse in 91, and i have no reason not to believe him, that's usually where you play in Sudbury if you're not big enough to sell out the arena.

i don't care if you believe me, you're just some condescending prick on the internet anyway, but if you need a second opinion why don't you pull that giant rotten pickle out of your ass and ask it what it's take on the matter is? or is it permanently embedded? probably is.

Neil Peart is the man - and, myself being a drummer, a hero to me, an incredible musician and lyricist. The five from Kingston are also incredible.
