Has anybody heard of these guys? All I know about them is that they're from Brooklyn and their new album is getting rave reviews. I saw it at Future Shop yesterday and I contemplated making a blind purchase and picking it up, but I'd like to hear some more reviews first.

Do it.
Not all their stuff works, but these guys are really going in some interesting directions. Saw their set at Coachella and it was one of the highlights despite the sound issues going on with their monitors.
When the only white guy in a rock n' roll band (who looks like David J from Love & Rockets, btw) is laying down the beat box vocal effects, you've probably got some crazy stuff taking place, i.e. who cares who's doing what in this band, as long as it's getting done.
I would probably start with their Desperate Youth... album first, as a primer for the new one.

They were on Letterman last week and blew Dave away. I tend to trust Dave's judgement, seeing as how the Foo's are his favourite band and he see's 85 of the top acts each year. It was the first time I'd seen them and I was digging it a whole lot too.

So I took the plunge and picked up "Return to Cookie Mountain" at HMV yesterday. I'm not sure what to think of it yet. It's incredibly unique. The music is very layered and there's a lot of crazy production techniques going on, but I've also noticed plenty of hooks and melodies in there as well. I'm really gonna have to absorb this thing and let it grow on me. My initial reaction reminded me of the first time I heard the Rheostatics or Radiohead's "Kid A", where you kind of do a double-take and say "what the hell is this??"

Thanks to folks on the this Forum! It is always great to be alerted to new music, especially stuff that is compared to Kid A. I checked out some clips online, including Letterman and I am heading out to get the CD this afternoon.

I've heard nothing but good things as well and the few songs I've heard on Sirius sound cool. There's a couple great video's on youtube as well.
