wouldn't it make sense for the hip to put out the long awaited DVD from a show where it all began?? they will have a huge pumped up crowd that would also showcase their hometown of kingston. this could be completed well in advance for x-mas.
of course they would have to do some warm up shows at small intimate venues to hone the show so the band is at its best. if anyone is listening.......this time dont forget buffalo!! {darien doesn't count} :mrgreen:

If they did do up a DVD, ya think it'd be just one show or a collection? I don't own a single DVD by any other musician/band or anything, so I don't know what the norm is. Do some of them set out several DVDs of different performances and venues wrapped up in one or do they just do single venues (i.e. Live At The Fillmore, etc)? Or does it all vary?

Usually a DVD is from a single performance; however, if the band can afford it, they try to film during a 2 or 3 night stand at a venue so that it's easier to patch up a problem during the filming.
The best example of this is from the U2: Elevation DVD. Technically it's from the Boston show on the night of June 6th but footage from both the Boston show on June 5th and the Boston show on June the 9th was used at times in the DVD. Because the same venue was used all 3 nights and the band were smart enough to wear the same outfits during all 3 shows it's difficult to tell where the patches are.
U2: Go Home also uses footages from both of their Slane castle 2001 concerts.

one of the best live dvd's is the allman brothers- live at the beacon. i can watch that all day. they did that in a two nights.
buffalo's goo goo dolls made a dvd on july 4th. the show was free and there was 70,000 people expected but a freak rain storm kept a lot of people away. but the show went on and it'll be released by x=mas. maybe the hip caught it on eyewitness news and thought,
hey, we should do that.
