As for the season, I'm not so sure we'll be seeing one any time soon. :x

Healey was on both CBC and TSN. The reason he didn't sign with CBC was that they wanted him to be exclusive to CBC.

I gotta give Healy credit for at least saying 1 great thing. He was talking about the Leafs and was talking about scoring on the Leafs. He said a line with Hoglund on it is a "no scoring line". It was a great moment of television and was on TSN in an intermission of some game.

Wonder if Burkie is going to be hard on the Canucks when he works during their games.

This is all assuming that their is hockey of course.

Speaking as a Flames fan, I think Glenn Healy is a douchebag. His blatantly obvious pro-Detroit commentary during the Wings/Flames series was brutal. Even Detroit fans noticed it. I'm sure he was down in the Red Wings dressing room after game 6 consoling his buddies after the big loss, hahaha.

Not a big Cherry fan. I don't agree with what he says most of the time, but that's not it. it's the noteriety that he gets. He's like a God in Canada, and it's not merited. I can't say I'm a fan of Healy or Pierre McGuire, but at least they don't get to speak on the War on Iraq. I mean why should anybody care what a former hockey coach has to say about that? I'm as Canadian as the next person and love hockey, and recognize whoever is working the intermissions on HNIC is going to be held up in this country, but the free space to roam around he gets from the CBC is rediculous. The only American comparison I can think of is John Madden, and how many times has he waxed poetic on politics? Very rarely, and if he did offend, say a whole region of the country like Cherry did Quebec, there'd be a whole lot more than a 7-second delay. HNIC should stick to hockey, and if they want to do that with Cherry that's fine. He can talk all he wants about no-touch icing (a good idea) or that only pansies wear facemasks (a very flawed and ignorant statement) but he should not get free reign on the state of the nation, because he's just an old hockey coach. Sorry for the rant

Cherry > any other tlevision personality, sports related or otherwise, the fact of the matter is he always calls it exactly how he sees it, he doesn't pussy foot around anything, and he's HIGHLY entertaining, HNIC wouldn't be the same with out him, and i'm very glad to hear that he'll be back whenever it is we get to see some NHL hockey .

When Don "the best thing to ever come out of Kingston :wink: " Cherry diverges from hockey talk, it's only a big deal, because people make it one. So what the guy has an opinion on the war? Who says he has to talk about hockey 100% of the time? People aren't hostages. If you don't want to watch him, you change the channel, just like everyone does during the second period intermission (Satellite Hotstove = Root canal)

As well, people who criticize Don's opinions about hockey, I think that they need to remember that this man has been around the game of professional hockey for probably 50 years. Although some of his notions may be slightly outdated, he knows 100x more about hockey then 90% of the armchair captains that love to malign him.

And what Cherry said about the French and European's being more likely to wear visors is entirely correct. Statistically speaking a French Canadian or European hockey player is more likely to wear a visor. That whole thing got blown so far out of proportion it isn't funny. And yes, I wear a visor when I play hockey.

And one more thing, if you think the visor issue that Don has himself right in the centre of is a cut-and-dry issue, you don't even deserve to be part of the debate. There are many valid arguements for and against mandatory visors.

P.S. I do not worship the ground Don walks on, I just respect him for who he is: one of hockey's most knowledgeable men (you don't win the Jack Adam's trophy for nothing).
