if they are your FAVORITE band, and you want them to continue playing music, wouldnt you support them by buying their album wheather you liked it or not?

If you're not buying it, how have you heard it? You don't belong here. Please leave.

Oh come off it.... when did we all get high & mighty about downloading music? This thread was started to ask people why people might not be buying the album, now somebody responds, and we browbeat him?

Sure, I've bought this album, but I freely admit to downloading music. I'll hear a song I like, and I'll download a couple of more songs to see if I think I'll like the album. There's lots of times where I've decided that nope, I don't like it enough to buy it, and there's others where i've bought the artists' entire back catalog.

This is a forum for hip fans, I didn't see anything on the way in saying I had to own X number of albums....

40 things we share
well 41 if you include
the fact that we don't care!

I do download music in order to test new bands, especially seeing though the music industry is going to shit. Or if there's a single song I like by an artist and all the other songs are crap, I'm not gonna buy the WHOLE album for the diamond in the dung-mound. I'll download it instead. Anyway, this is freedom of speech, pure and simple. You have the right to voice your opinion and I have the right to voice my disagreement with it. I'm even going to go as far as "browbeating" someone for not buying the new album much like I beat the shit out of people who say the Tragically Hip suck. It's their opinion. And here's mine = >SMACK<. But I wouldn't say they were wrong. It's their opinion. This thread was started because people weren't buying the album, not because anybody cared why.

I never had any money to buy Hip albums in the past (being an unemployed and lazy teen) and I downloaded them. Stole a couple, too. I didn't give a shit about the Hip. Screw them. Confusedhock: I wanted their albums but with no cash, what do ya do? Then I started liking them more and more and when I did have the money, I went straight out and bought every single album by them (I almost cringed when I bought the EP). Even the ones I had stolen were paid for. I repented for my sins against the Hip. But now I am seriously addicted to them. I wouldn't say that anybody is not welcome here but if I was one of those who didn't buy the new album, I certainly wouldn't post the fact that I downloaded it. Like when someone farts in a crowded room, nobody fuckin admits it.

I downloaded it from RealPlayer. Legal too! I then burned a copy for the car and home. Now I have it at work, home and the car. I enjoy the hip, I have been to about 7 concerts, but I would not buy their album if I did not like the music. I decided to buy this one after listening to the sample tracks on the real player website. If I did not like what I heard I would not have paid for it, or downloaded it. To reply back to Jenna (sorry of I have the name wrong) I would never buy any album of music that I did not like even it was my favorate band.

If the album is crap, you don't buy it. Personally I love it. . but to each his own.

I used to download porn. But you never get anything worth seeing, so I quit.
