I disagree about IVL. I feel it's a very strong album, and very solid. It's also more esoteric and insular (more grown up), but that's really just the direction the Hip have slowly been heading in since Trouble at the Henhouse. Listening to Josephine, I really feel we're in for more of the same with the next one, which is just fine by me. But yeah, I think some oldschool hipsters might start dropping out. I'm glad so many people agree with me about Day for Night being the best record. It's absolutely my favourite CD among hundreds.

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

1-Grace, too (Any live version...)
2-Good Life
3-Save The Planet
1-Day For Night

Has anyone had the same three so far? I doubt it...that's the beauty of this band, and the Hipbase for that matter! Cheers folks...

Is there one of those poll things where we can determine what everyone thinks the best album is... I'm a hands down Day For Night fan, and I want to know who else thinks the same... I've seen these polls before, just can't figure out how to use 'em... kinda like my finance calculator

I neved did, never have, and can't really right now pick three songs that I can fairly classify as my favourite, but here we go...
1) Pigeon Camera (has to be loud though, no headphones, only blaring speakers...man that bell sends shivers down my spine)
2) Vapor Trails (same with the decibel intensity... when it's loud enough Johnny's floor tom rocks my world... I think the volume, and indictively the mood you're in changes these rankings vastly)
3) Emergency (maybe I just like loud music)
If, however, I am sad I would just listen to Day For Night all day (and night) long
Does anybody find that Das_Hips 3rd, 4th and 5th album are their most diverse?
With Road Apples you get a solid blues rock performance,
Fully Completely is their take on Grunge,
Day For Night is a mature alternative album,
so it really depends on where I am, where I'm going, and what mood I'm in...

I find that up until TATH all the albums have distinct musical properties:
The EP is punk-influenced rock'n'rolll
Up To Here is folky, acoustic
Road Apples is a real southern blues rocker
Fully Completely is driving American radio rock, as you said, in the grunge vein
Day For Night is deep, dark, introspective and angry
Then TATH comes along and I can't attach a tag to it. But I think Phantom Power is the best "mature" rock record out there by any band. There's something about it that's fresh and original but also something that gives the impression that the artists have been around for a long time. However, after Phantom Power, M@W and IVL don't seem to fit into categories either.

I think I remember seeing an interview with Gord saying he'd been playing for about 10 years before TATH so I guess he wanted to be dam sure that he could get up there and play with the boyz.

hey guys. heres the link of the interview that was previously mentioned about Gord playing the guitar for 10 years before playing live. Its a pretty good interview, so funny moments in it. Thats the typically stupid questions asked in it too. Well check it out, well i imagine many people have already seen it before so its not new
