We're supposed to choose a poet and one of his/her poems to present to the class, giving biography and such and then our interpretation of the meaning. I chose "Insomniacs of the World, Goodnight" because I love it so much. Does anyone have any good Gord quotes, especially pertaining to religion? Also, Gord's birthdate, or maybe just a good site with biographical information of the man? Thanks.

I see it as the end of idealism, the end of a relationship. Maybe toying with the naivete of young immature lovers. Sort of reminiscing the days when things were great between two people, not thinking anything could go wrong. Sadly and inevitably, something does and there's nothing left to hope for.

I always viewed the poem as addressing the concepts of renewal, love, memory and all they all insect. This may be more than a tad vague, but it is the best I can do for now! :thumb:

Ha, I just read "Snowy Lambeau" again. That poem makes me giggle.
(Kind of off-topic, but it's my own so I can.)

Edit: Jenna, I see love and memories (good O.A.R. song btw) but renewal? "There's no need for breathlessness when we're so far apart." I don't know, just show me what you mean.
