I'm fidning it rather ineteresting how some people REALLY dislike this song, and other absolutely love it.
Now i'm one who absolutely loves it.
Just, trying to figure out what it is about the song that makes there be such split feelings towards it.

I dislike it ... but I'm giving it a full listen now so I can be perfectly honest.
The music to it is perfect but Gord sounds like he's trying.
And I have never been a big fan of the slower songs (some I like, some I don't).
It's the chorus that bugs me; " ... Are we family ... or what? ... "
I don't know what it is about it. Maybe just the general feel?
But if other people like it, I won't say that they're wrong for liking it.

I love this song. One of my all time favorite "slow" Hip songs.

Not much of a fave of mine...yet...
But the same held true for me when PP came out, I hated Rules and Escape...but now, they are two of the strongest songs on that CD for me.
It's so funny how we can change our tune about songs after several listens. Anything's possible...

That song has many good qualities. After hearing it live, it'll definetely be up there with Wheat Kings and Scared as a second song, first encore type. I think it would actually be radio friendly as well.

It is one of my favourites on the cd along with Vaccination Scar. . and probably Makeshift We Are right now.
This song I feel is the pinnacle of the Hip's personal lives right now. After 15 years of being a band, and touring. . this is an epiphany that they're grown up. . and more than just rock stars...they're fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, and nephews. At the same time I don't think the song only applies to immediate family, but to close friends as well. To listen to this song..is to sit back and appreciate all the people close to us that we don't usually appreciate. This song makes us realize who is really most important in life. . family.

Into the night has a good perspective on this. I found, while listening to this song on the live radio broadcast, that Gord might have actually been singing to the fans. Are we family? They have fans like perhaps no other band. Travel with them from city to city, every 2 years for about 20 years now. I'm sure the guys have got to recognize many familiar faces in the crowd at each stop. It's kind of as though the fans are family, because they've developed along with the band over the years. Each has seen the others progression along the way.

Being in a same-sex relationship -- now that's gay. Bashing a song is something completely different. But I digress
This song has such a relaxing vibe to it. Late night, small town Ontario, driving down your main street with the windows wide open
Cheers

It's intelligent. It's art.
It's got a message and a killer melody.
It's everything I love about this band.
Can't wait to hear it on the 10th and 11th.
