The lithographs I have are mostly 11 x 14 and 8.5 x 11 black and white photographs on super high glossy paper. Every one is different. and they are all framed. There are promotional shots, live shots of the band on stage and individual shots of almost every band member.

ahhhhhh, I see. For some reason I just equate the word lithograph with the In Violet light one. Cause of course there can only be one. :roll:

But 'almost' every band member... pick it up there slacker.

when bored in class I sit and write down the lyrics to whatever hip song is running though my head. yikes. putting that in writing makes me feel a little bit creepy. :lol:

there is usually a surprise on my exams for the people marking them. i always scribble some lines down somewhere on the exam pages. for example, i couldnt remember the answer to a question on my biochem exam last semester so i threw down "Life is forgetting...or is life just for getting?" i'm not sure what the marker thought about it, but i'm sure it was noticed.

It comes as a surprise to many "Outsiders", the level of commitment fans have to the band. Attending back to back shows, many ask, what's the point? I think everyone on this board can agree, it IS the live show that does it for the fans. Going to back to back shows and hearing maybe 5, 6 of the same songs out of a 20 song set, no one would turn that down. Many assume the band runs through a standard set for the entire tour. The band is a lot like Pearl Jam is that respect, it is the live show that holds the majority of the appeal. I've rarely met someone who has attended just one Hip show, or at least, has only seen them once and says they would definitely go again. It is some sort of sick addiction, or maybe just a great show. Consider how upset many Hipbasers were when track lengths were released-"How are they going to turn a 2 minute song into a classic 5 minute jam session on stage?" As far as obsessed goes, that's a very strong word. So yes, I have boarded the boat as well. It's no surprise the amount of writers, poets, English majors (Like myself) on this board. Gord's talent as a writer is unlike any other. And the fact that this band makes themselves so accesible to fans (Especially those in Ontario) only adds fuel to the obsession fire, merchandise, etc. Bands like The Hip, Pearl Jam, they truly are the last of the unplucked gems. You will find many older fans at these shows, because they're true to the sound, a no-gimmicks rock and roll show. These bands, they're a dying breed. Standard sets, generic videos and ridiculous publicizing for money is more than just a trend with bands, it's become the way. You'll remember The Hip continually winning MuchMusic awards, and now they've been all but forgotten by MM. I for one am glad, they won't be performing Scar at the awards this Sunday beside bands who have probably never heard of them. The point I think I'm trying to make is, people rarely obsess over things that aren't of the truest importance to them. I doubt the band enjoys people analyzing every show in great detail, but I could almost guarentee they DO love the fact that their music makes people happy. I often look at my bootleg collection and can't seem to figure it out either, but all it usually takes is a listen of something I haven't had the pleasure of hearing in awhile, and I'm reminded what it's all about. I have the hip base as my home page and I'm on here everyday. I sometimes will reload to see if someone's responded to a thread I'm interested it.

I download something hip at least once a day whether it be a video or a bootleg. I also have 714 hip files of some kind of my Hard Drive, whether they are videos, interviews, TV specials, bootlegs, pictures, etc. I still have the MP3s I dled back in the day when it was OK to dl studio stuff.

I think I might be the worst because keep in mind I've been only been getting hip stuff off the web since like March! lol

my parents and friends think im obsessed, i just think im a huge huge fan like jamie. All ym profs must think im nuts because every exam i've written in university and high school are usually filled with hip lines all over them, sometimes just lines sometimes songs.

i got bootlegs, walls covered in Hip pictures and posters, t-shirts, ticket stubs with a printed out version of the setlist to go with them. multiple copies of albums, on hipbase like 10-20 times a day. come to think of it, im wearing a hip shirt now. im not obsessed.

I just showed this thread to my wife. Apparently I'm obsessed too (not the first time I've heard that!). She said that if I put just 2% of the energy that I use obsessing about the Hip into her, she would be a totally happy woman! I think she's sufficiently happy though, so on with the status quo!

Simply remind her that you COULD be obsessed with Britney or Ms. Lopez, and I think she'll be the first in line to get you a nice shiny copy of IBE.

I wouldn't say I was obsessed with the members of the Hip but I'm certainly obsessed with their creations! :thumb:
