A little reminder that in games in which he let in 4 or more goals, Kipper was PERFECT during the regular season with a 1.25 GAA and no losses. In the playoffs he is also PERFECT; I don't know the exact stats, but he is still undefeated after allowing four or more goals.

Might just have to take in The Bull and finch Royce, good luck getting them for Monday's game , a friend at work managed to get a couple for tonight . I had no luck getting tickets , they auctioned some off at ticketmaster for charity , here's what the went for , per ticket .

ya I saw that auction. Little outta my range for one ticket. That game on Saturday was great. I was out camping near Canmore this weekend for a sort of Stag party. There were about 10 of us gathered around a tiny little black and white tv to watch the game and it was a great time. Great game and a great weekend in the mountains. Can't beat that in the spring. :mrgreen:

Still no luck on tickets for tonight though. I'll keep trying.

Was it just me, or was anybody else embarrased by the way the Red Horde boo'ed Vinnie Lecalvier after his head was run into the glass from behind? The guy got up, that's a good thing.

I mean sure, cheer for your team, but don't start taking pleasure in the pain of others. It's very "Leaf fan" of them.

I hope they win the cup, I'm glad they lost last night.

A little dose of humility might tame some of the losers threatening businesses on 17th and blood lusting after the other teams players. Not all of them, I know, but some were just plain acting like jackasses last night...

That was a dirty hit and the booing was shameful. It's just the bandwagoners who are doing things like that, the same as it's just the bandwagoners who are the one smashing windows and stripping on 17th ave after the games.

I understand why you may feel that way , but look at the replay, Ville's arm was up high , but he didn't take a big run at him , or hit him neck first into the boards . If Vinny actually did up his chin strap he wouldn't have had a scratch . Vinny lays on the ice for a few minutes then skates to the bench, all fine and dandy , that's why the fans booed him , don't fake it like he did , if he didn't lie there like a stuck pig , Ville doesn't get 5 min , it was a penalty in my opinion , 2 minutes , but not 5. Vinny deserves to get booed, if your not hurt don't lie there like you are. Gelinas took a puck off the face and hardly blinked , he's a gamer . I don't care if it's Vinny or Jarome , don't fake an injury , it annoys the hell out of me , you have guys playing with broken bones , and then some guy drops like a lead sack every time he feels a stick touch him ( not Vinny, Just saying). Now adding to this was Harry Neale making a bigger deal out of it than it was, just like they blew it out of porportion when Ville glanced Cujo (Detroit series) and he fell like Bob Probert sucker punched him. Look, when Stillman left his feet and elbowed Nilson in the head ( in a previous game), where were the cries for a suspension there ? Because Marcus didn't lie on the ice for 5 minutes it was "OK".

Never heard about smashing windows , I was there Saturday night and never saw one incident of violence or destruction , now I did leave at 3 am , so I can't say what happened after that . As for bandwagoners , well then there must have been at least 15,000 at the game , because it was more than a few people booing... stripping on 17ave... Well I can't tell by looking at a girls breasts if she's a bandwagon jumper or not .

Ditto what Mark said. Nemo deserved a penalty for the hit but it was only cause Vinny layed on the ice before getting up and skating back to the bench looking fine that he got 5 min.

And smashing windows on 17th? Where are you hearing that? Heard of a couple fights and that's about it. Nothing too bad for a crowd of over 40,000 in my opinion.

I saw a window get cracked Saturday. A huge crowd was trying to go one way and another huge crowd was trying to go the other, and someone wound up putting their elbow through a window in the push. Some quick-thinker put a "GO FLAMES GO" sign in front of the crack before the cops noticed. I saw another store window that was cracked a little later. I'm not sure where, although I do remember seeing some guy throwing up on it.

Fifteen stitches would suggest Lecavalier wasn't faking...and to hit someone high from behind with enough force that his helmet comes flying off suggests Niemenen wasn't merely "finishing his check"...as Stephen said, the tape is pretty damning evidence...

As for the fans thing? In the heat of battle, ALL fans react impulsively (have we forgotten the Canucks fans reaction to the Bertuzzi hit already???)...This is the Stanley Cup finals folks! Put that game in ANY arena in the NHL and draw up a similar scenario and the home crowd would instinctively react the same way...

But then what do I know? I'm just a blood-lusting "Leaf fan"... :wink: :mrgreen:

Different perspectives I guess. I've seen the replays over and over again, trust me, in Calgary there's little else covered in the news these days more than the Calgary Flames. Nemo definitly had his arms up high on Vinny. Hit him from behind and deserved the penalty. The fans booed him as if he was faking because in their opinions he was. As soon as Nemo left for the dressing room Vinny got up and skated without any assistance to the bench where he sat and looked fine. That's why the fans booed, it looked like he layed on the ice until to draw a worse penalty than was deserved. There was never a question that Nemo just took a stupid penalty with less than 5 min. left. Tortorella didn't play him again because he would have been an outright idiot to do so. The Bolts had the powerplay all the way to the end of the game.

How can you take hockey out of it? Of course it'd be an outright ridiculous thing to do outside of a hockey game. It's also be a silly thing to do to check someone into a wall (legally within a hockey game) outside of a hockey game. I don't see how taking hockey out of it has any bearing on weather it was a stupid thing to do.

And the Flames did lose. They had a ton of chances, could have easily won it had 'Bulin not been so stellar in net.

And 17th ave. Well, BulletRiddled's account of cracked windows is the first I've heard about that. I have friends that live a couple blocks off of 17th and have seen the aftermaths of every game since the Vancouver series. I've heard a few stories about drunken idiots doing stupid things like climbing street lamps and trees and a couple of fights which I don't understand. But all reports from the police have said that 99.9% of the people down there are well behaved. There were over 40,000 people down there!! In about a 4-5 block section of a street, to celebrate a sporting event! In many cities in North America and around the world there would have been a riot and looting. In my opinion that's remarkable.

The verdict is in...one game suspension for Nieminen...

Here's Colin Campbell's quote on the matter:

''Nieminen used his forearm to deliver a forceful hit from behind to the head of his opponent,'' said NHL's Vice President of Operations Colin Campbell. ''This hit was more severe than any of the other plays that were brought to our attention during the Final. This was a hit that clearly crossed the line and was directed at the head. Even if Lecavalier is able to play in Game 5, this type of hit must be subject to supplemental discipline.''

But look on the bright side, Flames fans...Kerry Fraser and Brad Watson will get a chance to redeem themselves in game #6 on Saturday:
