That is just embarassing. Montreal is like a second home for me, so it hurts me to say it, but their booing of the US anthem is ignorant, juvenile and insulting.
I don't like Dubbya, but I can seperate him from the men and women living in the United States. We (regular old human beings) put the border there, you'll notice that there is no actual line on the ground between Canada and the US. We're all the same flesh and blood beings, and it seems that politics is damaging what should be, and has been, a pretty peaceful coexistance between nations.
I really hope the folks in Boston show some class and upstage the boo birds by not booing Oh Canada. But, I won't blame them if they do.
Shame on you anthem booers. It makes us all look bad, and it's just plain dumb.

I believe it happened last spring in Montreal when the US invaded Iraq. There was quite a bit of media generated in that instance, and I'm sure this will just re-kindle everything, which isn't good for Canada as a whole. Does anyone know what triggered the boobirds this time?

Not to make excuses (nor justify), but I think people in MTL are still a little rowdy about the war.... especially since there have been so many civilian deaths lately

It's a little shameful and tactless if you ask me. Would we not all be outraged as Canadians had the situation been reversed?

I'm outraged FOR the americans. I don't want to be associated with losers who are going to boo the anthem. Like i don't believe in the war, but I'm not going to boo the national anthem. There's prolly a large magority of americans who don't agree with the war too. And they're booing THOSE people's anthem. not cool.

I think it is a classless display, especially for a city like Montreal. This may seem like an odd comparison but, when Conan disparaged Quebec on his show, everyone screamed foul. Booing another team's anthem is just as pathetic. Aren't we above this type of thing? Where are the "good manners" we pride ourselves on?

to boo or not to boo. Does it really matter? It is just a song, it's not like we hung their flag upside down or anything.

Hahaha the MTL fans got a little "warning" or plea before the game asking them to be respectful! At least they listened!! :thumb:
