That's my point though - in the salary cap era, why would you waste ANY money on a guy who you know can't produce. And I don't see how it is you could possibly think he's going to be "way" better this year (other than wishful thinking). His last three years:

Interesting twist in Malkin story

The previous transfer agreement would have seen Metallurg Magnitogorsk receive just $200,000 in exchange for Malkin.

Yeah Lance, I saw that today. What a draw that would be for the Penguins. Two young phenoms playing together. The man certainly knows how to make things interesting (on AND off the ice apparently).

Two immature prima donnas on one team will not bode well for the Pens this year. This tandem will be a force in coming seasons, though.
