I was listening to some of my hip dvds on the weekend and found myself hoping that the hip will do more extended jams this coming tour. We all love the rants Gord D does during the jams but what about the rest of the band. Now that Gord D is getting proficient with the guitar I would love to see/hear some extended music jams. Wouldn't it be awesome to see Gord S blast into a bass solo followed by Johnny hammering on the drums and Paul and Rob tripping out!! Many, Many Hip songs would easily lend themselves to extension. Don't get me wrong I still love having nicely put together five minute songs played for me but they seem a little bit the same when you see four or more shows a tour. For the IVL tour the setlists didn't change that much between cities. Extended jams used to be a regular part of the hip show. Remember classics like highway girl and all canadian surf club. Any boots from 89 and earlier will have extended jams of these songs. I would love to hear a 17 minute version of vapour trails. Am I alone on this or do any other hipbasers crave more music?

I'm in for a really long jam version of any song; including NOIS!
The jam is what got me hooked on Hip bootlegs.

I agree no more NOIS or BLow. I would love to see a concert without these being played. They're great songs but time to be retired.

Songs I could easily picture having monster jams in the middle of/at the end of:
Chagrin Falls
Locked In The Trunk
Nautical Disaster
Fight (it's long, but it's almost all lyrics)
Emergency
Courage (I always thought there should be a jam before the bridge)
IOD
Sharks (would KILL for a mega jam here)
maybe even Springtime...10 minute intro

During the PP Buffalo or Milwaukee show they did an awesome jam on Hundreth Meridian with Gord ranting lyrics from Every Irrelevance, that IMO was one of their best jams. :thumb:

9/30/96 -- 21 Minutes of 100th... 19 of which is jam/rant. Actually Gord's ranting for almost all of it, except when he breaks his mic stand.
Save the Planet->Escape->Purple Paint->Vapour Trails->Hiccups and so much more... Couple of good stories... comparison of China to Oakville... incredible. The NOIS from that show is solid too, featuring one of the first appearances of Insomniacs
Cheers

I've always thought Poets could have a great jam, right in the middle...I thought we were going to get some of that during the last tour, with the "Botts, bottoms of our boots" rants that often filled the middle of the song...it could easily become a 10-minute song though...

I totally agree. I loved the jams on the PP tour, actually. They were very tight during the last tour, but yeah, looseness can be good sometimes too.
