Bush said he wants to change the constitution to prevent some states from legalising gay marriage. His comment on the verdict of the High Court that forbidding gay marriages is in violation of the constitution: "Those activist-judges ignore the will of the people, the constitution must be changed to protect the sanctity of marriage".
In my opinion Bush abuses religion to discriminate gay people. What's your opinion?

I agree with you Jen, I see no problem with gay people marrying.
They should have all the same rights as straight people do. I was very happy when Canada decided to change that ridiculous law.
I guess you won't be voting for George, come the next election huh Jen. :thumb:

I don't understand how a President can tailor his religion to his own specific preferences, and then try and turn it into federal policy. Our federal Liberals publicly stated they would NOT appeal the ruling allowing legal full unions of homosexuals. A few wingnut Christian zealots came out and protested. If, on the other hand, they had appealed, millions of people (including non gays like me) would protest and it could spell the end of the government. WHERE ARE THE DEMOCRATS?! Where are the millions of voices of opposition?!

The Justice Dept can undertake proceedings on their own, but if what I heard on the news is right, the Governator cannot actually make them. Good for them. What a bastard.

Intolerance comes from ignorance. People don't accept what they don't understand and instead of taking the time to find out what, in this case homosexuality, is all about, they see it as bad and act accordingly. :twisted:
