Looks like they're following Gordie's lead by distributing MP3s via the maplemusic.com site for $10:

The first three shows from the Watchmen's farewell tour are now available (Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon), with the Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Buffalo shows to come...
Personally, I'm waiting for the last show in Winnipeg (it of the 4 encores) to come out before I dive in, but the early reports re: the quality of these soundboard boots on the band's forum are highly favourable...
Cheers,
M.

Hey Lance, let's not get THAT topic started again...
Personally, regardless of the format, it'll be nice just to have a good quality recording of the show I was at (Horseshoe #2) as a permanent keepsake. Considering the tickets were only $15, I can easily justify adding in the extra $10 to complete the experience...
The way I see it, unless you're the one standing there with a digital recorder, you can't complain about what eventually becomes available...

They should offer .SHNs for like an extra $2 for anyone who has the bandwidth and is willing to pay a couple bucks more for better sound quality.

Soundboard is soundboard. You couldn't ask for much better quality. Gord's solo shows sound fantastic, even at 128 kbps!!

Not to belabor the point further, but that's kind of the point isn't it?...you DON'T have SHNs, so you take what you get (or pass)...
You have to remember, not everyone can tell the difference...To be perfectly honest, I can on studio recordings, but if you put a random bootleg recording (which, you have to admit come in all qualities regardless of source) in my car CD player and asked me whether it was sourced from MP3, SHN, WAV, FLAC or something else, unless it's "LBU" quality, I know I'd have a hard time telling...
Considering the very poor quality Watchmen boots that are out there floating around, I'm looking forward to the big step up that comes with any soundboard rip...
Methinks we've been spoiled a little...

Heh heh heh, when I read the topic, I thought you meant boots as in shoes, like some sort of strange merchandising ploy.

I'm with Lance. I'd rather pay $17 ($12 US) for MP3's and CD's of the show like a certain band with the initials "PJ" does.
I wouldn't for just MP3s.
