Yeah, but for not much more than recording policy info, and even those responses are only a few words long.

I got a response from them when I asked if I could video tape some of the shows from the last tour. The response was very short, I think it was: we're fine with that.
das hip

or something to that effect.

I've emailed that address several times and have had good responses for the most part.

One time back in '99, in preparation for a Hip show in Boulder, CO, I emailed the band telling them that I would be bringing a friend who was new to the Hip and was particularly fond of Cordelia, El Dorado, and Yawning or Snarling. I asked them if they would be kind enough to play one of these songs in Boulder.

We went to the show, and sure enough, they played Cordelia. I was pretty floored by that. I told everyone around me that I emailed a request for that song and that they played it because I asked them to.

A few weeks after the show, I got a reply from tth@thehip.com. It said "Boy, are we lucky we played Cordelia." Come to find out, Cordelia was basically a coincidence - but they still took the time to go back and see if they played any of the songs I listed.

I've heard several times that Gord Sinclair is the band's email correspondent. I think when you get a response from that address, it's being written by Sinclair himself.

Wow is that ever cool! I kindof thought based on some of the short responses that it was probably a band member looking after the email. :thumb:

actually if I'm not mistaken it's not even a person from the band that responds but someone who works for the band.. I forget his name though.. I've talked to him before.

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!
