just wanted to find out if other people thought that as each new hip album is released, there are less songs released onto the radio. i know a lot of radio stations will play the classics but i feel ever since phantom power the radio stations don't play a lot of the newer hip tunes.

i only remember the following songs being released on the radio:

pp - poets, bobcaygeon, and very briefly something on
m@w - my music at work and lake fever
ivl - it's a good life it you don't weaken, darkest one, briefly silver jet

i still hear silver jet at least a couple times a month

Remind me of this one time when i was living in Kamloops going to school, about a year after Day For Night had been released and the local radio said "Listen here at 1:30pm for the premiere of the NEW hip song". I set up a cassette to tape it (remember cassettes!?) and went to class. After class I rushed home and listened to the tape only to find out that they were talking about the radio release of Thugs. Color me pissed off. Radio sucks

Radio is not my favourite. I don't want to get a cd player becuase someone will just steal it. Halifax only has 2 radio stations that I will listen to. They play the hip once or twice a week if I am lucky enough to hear it.

Drive Home With the Hip?? I'd listen to that whether I was in a car or not...there's something about the Hip's music on the radio. Most days I would rather hear one of their songs on the radio than hear it on an album. Not that I don't listen to my CDs...but I love hearing them on the radio. Especially in a car.

We have only one radio station that plays the Hip (Q104) which is (coincidentally?) the only radio station I can stand to listen to. At least once a day I hear a song from Road Apples or Up To Here (they seem to love Little Bones and Blow at High Dough), but never new stuff.

When IVL came out they played Good Life... a lot, but only for a couple of weeks before realizing it wouldn't be a popular hit.

I thought I might also ask this question here, since it's on topic...was MM@W the only officially released single from M@W? I once heard about a Lake Fever promo single but it was called an unofficial release, and no video was made for Lake Fever or any other song besides MM@W. Did they just give up trying to promote that album or what??

i remember the edge 102 (cfny) in toronto, played lake fever on a regular basis for a while but i'm not sure if it was actually a radio release elsewhere. that album was promoted very poorly.

in the greater toronto area we're luckier than most as there are 3 stations that play hip

and 97.7

there are days where i just flip stations and sure enough i can find a hip song

oh yeah

and i'm not too sure if they still do it but for a while, 97.7 had a thing they called "tragically tuesdays" where thay would play a hip song every hour on the hour
