WoW!!! Pearl Jam and Friends last night
#1

This is from www.theskyiscrape.com in regards to last nights show in Santa Barbara, CA. Wish I could have been there for that one. I mean I could've gotten a ride down there with John Frusciante who was just here the night before with the peppers. Damn, what a show. Can't wait to hear a bootleg for this one:

Tonight's show from Santa Barbara, CA

soundcheck: I Believe in Miracles, Against the 70's, Daytime Dilemma (The Ramones), In My Tree (original), In My Tree (with Boom), Hail Hail, Hail Hail (instrumental), Hunger Strike (w/ Chris Cornell), Reach Down (w/ Chris Cornell), Can't Change Me (Chris Solo), Crazy Love (Chris Solo), 25 Minutes to Go, So You Wanna Be A Rock N Roll Star

Acoustic setlist: I Believe In Miracles, Nothing As It Seems, Immortality, Fatal, Thumbing My Way, Small Town, Man of the Hour, Nothingman, Crazy Mary, Last Kiss, 25 Minutes to Go (w/ Lyle Workman)
Electric setlist: Love Boat Captain, Black, In My Tree (w/ Jack Irons), Hail Hail (w/ Jack Irons), Save You
encore 1: Soon Forget (Ed on uke, Jack Johnson on guitar), Better Man/(I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend[w/ Jack Johnson]), Can't Change Me (Chris Cornell Solo), Like a Stone (Chris Cornell Solo), Hunger Strike (w/ Chris Cornell), Reach Down (w/ Chris Cornell)
encore 2: Daytime Dilemna (w/ John Frusciante), I Believe in Miracles (w/ John Frusciante)
encore 3: So You Wanna Be A Rock N Roll Star (w/ EVERYONE)

notes: Mike is on FIRE tonight! WOW! Jack Johnson was brought on stage for Soon Forget. Ed had some uke problems at the beginning. Chris Cornell plays a couple songs solo, and joins PJ for Hunger Strike, prefacing it with "Here's a song I haven't done in 11 years.." Guess this is the Temple of the Dog Reunion that was never going to happen Smile. Reach Down is 10+ minutes, featuring an amazing solo by Mike. Wow. What a show.

THIS NEEDS TO BE A LIVE RELEASE

Ya I'm just having my first listen to it right now. Sounds amazing so far. I love how fast that this recording got out to the public. Great work by the guy that recorded it to get it uploaded and sharing it all within a week of the show.

This band could seriously challenge Das Hips as the best live band out there right now....this is some good listening.... :thumb:

Wait....we've got ourselves a little debate here.....
While I have not seen DMB live, so I really can't make the call either way...I have seen Pearl Jam live, and I have left speechless. Anyone else? We'll get a whole whack of different bands....but what about PJ vs. DMB???

I have seen all 3 bands in question(hip/pj/dmb)

In my opinion pj puts on the best live show.
Why?
Length of show - 2 + hours here in vancouver
Quality of setlist - b-sides, covers, old tunes, new tunes
Pro bootlegs available the day after the show in mp3, then discs in your hands a few weeks later.

The hips AEW tour was comparable to a pj show, I wish this is something they would revisit. They have a huge catalog of songs to draw from, I would like to see some b-sides and older material in their setlists.

I haven't seen DMB or PJ,but i have got the PJ dvd,and I LOVE it!and I will buy their new dvd coming soon. It probobly does not even close do the band justice to actually being at their show but it gives you a snifter of what a great experience theirs gigs look like. I'd go see PJ in a heartbeat if I got the remotest chance to do so. And as for my THC,ya I really wish they'd try the PJ formula as Danny said, playing longer, b-sides, throwing boots of the show at you in a weeks time. hey why not guys Confusedcratch: blues Traveler, PJ and the list goes on are subscribing to these methods.

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

On the bootleg topic, lets hope the gd bootlegs were a trial run or a sign of things to come for the hips next tour. I was not a big fan of the gd formula, but his tour is on a smaller scale and i am grateful to have the bootleg of the show. Lets hope the hip can use the pj bootleg system as a mold for their tours.
