Good Place to eat in Toronto
#1

Hey my Canadian pals, (or anyone else who would know)
My husband and I, along with a few friends, are seeing Neil Young at The Air Canada Centre on June 23. We want to make a day out of it and are wondering about some good places to eat around that venue, along with maybe a few things to see or do. Any input would be appreciated
Thanks a bunch,
-Jen

I doubt you'll like it very much up in Toronto. You'd better give it a pass. Send your tickets to me and I'll get rid of them for you.

I don't really know a lot about good places to check out in Toronto though, sorry. I'd just love to go see Neil again. I was lucky enough to catch a great show of his in Vancouver a few years ago with Beck opening up for him. :thumb:

Hey Jen,

Give me some details on what you like, your budget, types of fun you like, food you like, etc. Tell me as much as you can and I will make sure you have a fabulous time in the greatest city on earth.

Remember, don't let all that spite you here from others about Toronto deter you, they say it either because they have never been here or they simply wish that they had what we have to offer. World class baby!

Cheers,
Mats.

Hey Royce...Good try

Mats, thanks in advance..we have been to Toronto before but it has been awhile. I remember that it is a beautiful and very clean city. Unlike Buffalo!!! Cry

Anyway, pretty much we all like to do things, weather permitting, outside. So if there are any historical sites or nature preserves or something to that nature.... I also have heard about a castle that is open to the public? Something similiar to Bolt's Castle in the 1000 Islands????
Money wise, as far as dinner is concerned, we are looking to spend around $50.00 or less, US funds. A pretty big variety in menu ideas, not one particular specialty...unless you have a huge recommendation. (I hate seafood though Smile )
We will probably be heading right back home after the concert because we all have to work the next day Sad So, I guess nothing for after the show.
Thanks so much for your time, we appreciate it!!

P.S. This may be a stupid question but what tax do you leave gratuity on? We typically leave 20% of the bill if the service was awesome, and 15% if it is just normal service. I'm sorry, this is stupid, but your taxes up there confuse me Smile Confusedcratch:

Hey Jen,
OK, that's good, I will get back you next week with some ideas.
About the tax thing... we have sales tax of 8% and GST of 7%, which is automatically added to your bill. What I typically do is tip on the pre-tax total which you will see on your bill. I do the same as you, 15-20%, depending on the "experience."
The castle you are refering to is probably Casa Loma. Check it out on the interent to see if it works for you. It's pretty cool.
Again, let me get back to you on some good ideas.

Gotcha...I figured that.

Quick questions -
What hotel are you at, what time are you arriving and what time do you want to get to the show by?

Give your ratings on the following things to do (rate 1 - 10).

1. Museums.
2. Shopping.
3. Bars after the show.
4. Indoor fun - toursity ie. CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame, Markets.
5. Waterfront walking.
6. Cultural exploring (don't worry about Sars please).
7. City walking.
8. Patio drinking.

A few items to assist you.
