The only reliabe thing I have heard about them touring is when they were in Winnipeg and Rory asked Gord S. if they were going to tour in Jan/Feb and he said he was up for it, but wasn't sure if the rest of the band was (something to that degree). They obviously won't tour Jan/Feb (if that was the case it would have already been announced).

They haven't done a full Canadian summer tour since 1997, maybe they'll do that???

After the December 30th show, the Hip's head roadie (I think his name is Dave "Billy Ray" Koster, I'm still not sure) said the Hip are going to do another album and be back touring within six months.

If anything i think that there are 2 possible outcomes for this year:

1. A greatest Hits album- when the "billy ray" roadie said something about an album this could be the only explanation. It takes a great deal of time to record and promote an album. It certainly couldnt be done within 6 months or whenever darien lake supposdly hosts TTH.

2. Nothing at all- After all these are all family men. (But lets pray for a dvd or something)

PS If a greatest hits tour did happen could you imagine the dust collected songs that would come out. OH MY GOD.

That would be amazing! Maybe they are taking sometime to learn the old ones again. Big Grin

I really hope it doesn't happen. Greatest Hits tours are inevitably nostalgia fests and the sign of a lazy band who are not looking in the right direction. With regards to setlists, the Evening With... tour was the tour for pulling out gems, they played well over half the songs they have ever put out on that tour. If anything, the current setlists have leaned heavilly towards "Greatest Hits", especially the New Year ones, with only four IVL songs each night. They should be playing far more new material and not relying on the past so much. A show with primarily new material would make it special when they pulled out something old like Opiated or 3 Pistols, rather than playing and playing and playing Blow, NewO, Courage, Wheat Kings etc to death.

I TOTALLY agree with Lubineksi. A Best Of and a Greatest Hits CD/Tour are two entirely different things. I just don't see the band doing a GH thing right now...not yet anyways.

As for all these rumours of them touring in Feb., I have to say, there's no way that'll happen. Everytime The Hip have toured Canada they announced the dates at least two months in advance. If anything, they'd tour in the summer or next winter...that's if they tour at all this year.

I really don't have a good feeling about the idea of a greatest hits package. For one thing, far too much of the hip's best stuff was never released as a single. For another, I've always thought of those things as the unofficial end to a career. A rarities album, though...

I was thinking maybe another live album. The question is what songs would be put on it?

I think the Hip should bring out a DVD with the shows from the last tour. That would be sweet to see the Buffalo show on there. That was an amazing show. Which I'm glad I attended. Peace! GO HIP!!!!

Great Hits tour would be a terrible idea, for the reasons given above.

With Gord's new solo album coming out in June, I very much doubt there will be a Hip album before 2004. I just can't see them practically overlapping the two only months apart. As much as I would LOVE a new Hip album...I'll gladly take Gord's second.

Speaking of which, when the hell are they going to release the tracklist for that album? It's been almost two months (FEB 3) since they announced it!

From what I have heard, I see a new hip album out by March or April of 2004. That's just an educated guess.
