These are both great records. I don't know how sales can be down for both of these, and how critics can slam these efforts. Yesterday in the Winnipeg Free Press, the critic said that he thought The Hip are done! He stated that the band didn't look into it this week, and that they are showing frustration by slamming the critics in the media (Baker's Calgary Sun interview was the example used). I just hope that The Hip listen to their die-hard fans and don't start paying attention to the critics or record sales. I saw them twice this week in The Peg and they were as tight as ever.

Agreed! FULL HEARTEDLY!
I mean, look at the shit that is selling now - eminem and n`sync. It shows how the music industry has gone down the hole...
the Hip Are selling out everywhere they go, and I really Hope they don't call it quits...I really really do.

Every band reaches a point where their sales begin to taper off. The question is, are the band capable of putting that into perspective, or will they allow that to affect their decision making process when it comes to their future?

It happened to U2 with the POP album. After pop they released ATYCLB which is absolutely phenominal - and a total hit.
The Hip's next album will be the best of all, I'd put my money on that.

Tough call, I'd say that the albums have become more artsy, and less fartsy, but so have all of we. I think that we've grown out of break neck speed music with the hip, and if you haven't that's what concerts are for, it's nice once and a while to yell out, "exonerate me". Have a close listen to the music, it's the same stuff, just taken down a notch, the darkest ones is little bones, and there are more, I will not divulge. Anyways too much ramble, what i have to say is that it seems like a sin nowadays to play your own instrument unless it is filled with distortion, agree, disagree?
