Silver Jet Music Video
#16

If either of you do end up going, please post some details as to how it went and what we can expect. Kind of like a show review only a video shoot review. That would be very cool!!

That would be excellent, wonder if they are allowing pics to be taken though?...I am assuming that they won't be allowed during the video shoot but I am sure someone will sneak some in there either during a break or after it is done!

I wonder if anyone else on the board is going? I would be neat if a bunch of people from the board went.

Yeh, well, if the video people had responded yesterday like they were supposed to... there would have been so much more time to plan! That would have been fun! Hey... imagine they do a mini set after the vid shoot??! Ohhh... Confusedhock:

I did end up going to be an extra in the Silver Jet video and it was the most amazing experience I have ever had. When I first got there Gordie was there and he asked me for a piece of gum, signed an autograph and let me pose for a picture with him. The video was shot in a club scene that was very narrow, with lights going up each side of the wall. I didn't get out of there untill about 11:30 pm and they wanted me to stay for approx. three more hours, but unfortunately I had a long drive home ahead of me. This has been one more experience with the Hip that confirms how awsome and down to earth they all are. Watch for the back of my head or my arms in the new Silver Jet video.

Well - I enjoyed the experience obviously... I had met some of the band members before and this was different.... there was no security and the timeline was longer here than bacstage or catching them for 5 min. before a show in the U.S. I didn't get any pictures taken with the Band.. nor did I ask for autographs. I have done that years ago and it didn't do much for me. I just truly enjoy the Music and the chance to be around the personalities that make that music for 4-5-6+ hours was cool enough for me. When my review is posted you will see I did give a couple of Wooden Guitar Picks that were hand made to Paul, Gord D, and Bobby. I play guitar myself and came across www.woodenpicks.com back in 1999 or so and thought for guys who have everything maybe this would be something they hadn't seen... so I had a few Picks made with their initials on each one. Each guy especially, Gord Downie really seemed to appreciate that I had given him something. For $4 a piece it was worth the effort...Who knows maybe we'll hear a different acoustic sound on the next album.

Another thing... they haven't changed much in the last decade either. I talked to Bobby alone at the first Roadside for 25 min.. one day and he was the same back then as he was on Friday night... Gord D. same with him. They appreciate their fans and it shows...

IVL is an amazing album and Silver Jet was not one of my favs at first. But now after 30+ listens live during the video shoot I actually like it more... not less like you might think because I heard it over and over.

I have had alot of Hip moments over the years and The Silver Jet Video Shoot ranks up there pretty high... really high!

Great reviews Jeffro & Scott. Thanks for putting the effort into writting two such great pieces. They both made me so jealous not to have been there. It sounds like a video shoot is the best way to have "close encounters of Hip-kind", I'll sure try my best to make it if they shoot another IVL video.

My closest encounter was a couple of weeks ago when my girlfriend and best friend got to meet and shake Bobby's hand after he and his family got off the Superman coaster at Darien Lake. I was stuck in the middle of the line, and missed out. They were too chicken to go on the ride, and ended up being rewarded for their fear!

Wow, sounds like the shoot was a positive experience for all despite how long it took. Looking foward to seeing this thing soon!
