Yeah, we ran into Gord S on the way out too...just walking out unnoticed amidst the crowd. Got to say thanks for everything.
Utterly riveting and moving experience, as much for the introduction of everyone at the end as the album. Pearl Wenjack led everyone in a first nations' prayer at the end and broke down in tears while finishing, and made a mention of her father and mother never understanding why Charlie had to go, and couldn't get through it without starting to weep and had to be comforted by Gord. It was as heart-wrenching a scene as I have ever seen pretty much anywhere. I felt honoured to have been there.

Walking around today just feeling blessed to have been part the audience for Gord's work last night. Blessed to spend time with the Wenjack & Downie families. Toronto folks, you have an incredible experience ahead of you! I'm glad to have the chance to do it all over again on Sunday.
The Secret Path will be broadcast by CBC in an hour-long commercial-free television special this Sunday, October 23, 2016, at 9pm (9:30 NT).

Do the people who went to the Ottawa show recommend listening to the album first, or experiencing it all for the first time at the concert?

I've not listened to the album yet; still taking in the live versions. The Only Place to Be is a standout for sure.

What a beautiful, personal moment to be a part of. Something I will never forget. It was so, so powerful and moving, for so many reasons. First, for Gord, and for what he was doing.
We listened to the album on the drive to Ottawa and I already had an inkling that the songs were sorrowful, both in sound and lyrics. When Gord came out, and the haunting, sad sounds of The Stranger started, the tearworks started. I found myself not watching the screen at all, but watching every single movement that Gord made. I love that he didn't speak. He performed. I love that this album isn't about him. He told a story with his voice. He sounded amazing, and I heard myself cheer inwardly during Here, Here, and Here, when I heard "Hip Gord" come out.
And then the real story. To be sitting in that room and feeling (and hearing) the hurt, the pain...that was hard. I can't undo what has been done. But I can move forward. I've learned a lot, and I'm still learning. I do some Aboriginal work as part of my job, so I have learned some things that I want to be more conscious of as I do my work.
I think its incredible that the Wenjacks allowed (and are allowing) so many people (and yes, "white" people) to be a part of such a personal story. If anything, this may be the stepping stone to bridging the gap. The Downie boys are amazing, amazing people.

Maybe I have been listening to too much of Bob Dylan's last two albums, but I anticipated the pace of this album to be far slower and far more acoustic than it is. Pleasantly surprised.
Seven Matches is my definite early favourite on this album. The vocals on it remind me of the In View demo 'Rock Vermont' (Quiet vocals with high notes).
The album sound to me feels like the child of Coke Machine Glow and Man Machine Poem.
Loving it so far (obviously).
