Did anybody here get Kingston?

vanhalen26 Wrote:I'm not sure all the speculation about scalpers is accurate for the Toronto and Kingston shows.

If you look at the number of tickets for sale on stub hub for each of the shows, it's not that high.

For example, there are just over 600 available for the Toronto Sunday show, and just 118 for Kingston.

I don't think tickets have been issued from the public onsale yet by ticketmaster, so they can't be sold online yet. Could be that once they're issued we see a huge spike in available tickets.

I scored one ticket!

Tried for 2 solid hours with my iPad and iPhone first day of presale for 2 tickets only to learn that there weren't any left after about 3 minutes.

Then in the evening I thought maybe I should just try for 1 (might have better luck). So I continued pressing the search button for 1 ticket periodically all evening (no luck).

Then I received the email about the additional dates presale taking place the following morning and just for kicks I tried for the Kingston show again when the presale began.

After searching for about 20 minutes with my iPad I was prepared to give up. I then grabbed my phone for some reason and the search page from the previous day was still active and so I pressed search and 1 ticket came up!!!!

I have no idea why or how. It makes no sense but I just got really lucky I supposed.

Happy!

Not Kingston-related, but ticket-related. This'll put a smile on your face:

Tickets from ticketmaster are now available for printing. Maybe that brings the price down if supply goes up. Hoping anyways.

Got a single. I will be making this my only show this tour. Hard to say.

I planned on leaving Saturday morning for the Kingston show.
Maybe I should leave today. I wonder how bad the city will actually be the day of show?

How to get to Springer Market Square

Parking downtown is very limited and many roads will be closed beginning on Friday, August 19. Watch this page for updates and a map of closures.

Transit

All Kingston Transit routes will be free. Additional 15-minute express service will be offered on all express routes from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. A route map and schedule for the additional 15-minute express service will be available here in the coming days.
All other Kingston Transit routes will operate on a regular Saturday schedule. Information about other Kingston Transit routes can be found here http://www.kingstontransit.ca.

How to plan for the event
Expect large crowds throughout downtown on August 20. Here are a few tips to make your experience a pleasant one.

Be patient and plan for long line-ups.
Plan for the weather. Bring rain gear or sunhats and sunscreen.
Plan for busy or fully booked restaurants by packing food and water. The Utilities Kingston water buggy will be onsite for water refills.
As a safety measure, bags will be searched.
No alcohol, folding chairs or camping allowed.
Pushing a stroller in large crowd will be very difficult.
Parking is very limited and many streets will be closed.
Busses running at capacity may have trouble meeting demand for service. Please be patient.
There will be port-a-pottys.
Help to keep the city clean. Please bring your garbage and recycling back home. (Pack in/Pack out.)

A few of us are staying at a motel about 4 km away from the rink. I'm going to be wearing comfy shoes as I fully expect to have to walk there and back. Cabs will be tough to come by that's for certain.

I have never been to Kingston.
How difficult do you suppose the drive into town/Queens will be?
Is Kingston congested already without a big concert in town?
And are there multiple ways into town so no real traffic jams.
Just looking for advice. Thanks

There's 3 exits off of the 401 you can take, Sir John A MacDonald, Division or Montreal. Division and Montreal lead directly to downtown. Generally traffic isn't too bad on these roads but there's a lot of lights. Getting off at Sir John A and coming all the way south to King Street is probably your best bet. You'll want to avoid Princess Street (main street that goes E-W right through the downtown) which is always busy on all parts of it. Generally driving around downtown isn't too bad because there's a lot of little streets, but Queen's is at the southern most part of the City, it borders Lake Ontario, so it could be tricky getting down there if there's a lot of people in town. Especially on Saturday.

Not to mention, the demand pricing for an uber will be through the roof that day.

Thanks for the info. I may pick your brain when the show gets closer.

Agreed- quickest way downtown is all the way south on Sir John A, and along King. That route will take you right into the heart of downtown and to Market Square and K-Rock Centre. There will definitely be some road closures in that area that will make driving around Market Square, K-Rock and that part of downtown waaay more congested than usual (which is not that congested relatively speaking). Anyone staying at the Holiday Inn or Confederation Place might want to get there and parked early.

I have a feeling that trying to find parking anywhere downtown is going to be crazy starting on the Saturday afternoon. Free Kingston transit or cabs will be the way to go, to say nothing of being able to enjoy a few beverages that night.
