Goodbye To The Hip- I Love you. You know I do

fingernailsonhull Wrote:Did you know you were the rock plug for all of us
Did you know in the conduit of Vesuvius
You were far more unifying than you know
I'm not a judge of suitable
But you almost had it all
Now you'll have to tell me when
Tell me when it's imminent
So you won't have to rise and fall alone
Or endure the wonder of survival
The wipe out loss
The elation of free fall
The rock bottom
The sweet betrayal
Alone
Alone
Alone
Alone
Alone

HELLO?

Filling in for someone and working the graveyard right now. Hoping nobody comes in over night because I'm in my office atm because I am just a wreck. I've never been one of the 'tough guys' and always wear my emotion right on my sleeve. As soon as I walked into work, my coworker asked me what was wrong and all I could say is it was a rough day.

Was talking to a friend today and I said to her how I was thinking it was weird to feel this way about somebody I don't even know, and what she responded with was very comforting to me.

She said I was talking bullshit because I have become close friends with the whole band in a different way. I think I understand now what Christians mean when they say "I have a personal relationship with Christ", because I now understand that I do have a personal relationship with Mr. Downie. He may not know my name or face, but no other person is woven into the fabric of my existence like Gord Downie. Most people may think I'm batshit for having these thoughts, but I know if there's anywhere people may understand this, it's here.

I'm sure I will have lots more thoughts as we all travel down this hard road together. Stay Hip everyone, and let's all be happy that we all get a chance to say goodbye.

Don't you wanna see how it end?

There's a breakthrough new treatment that's having miraculous results in curing the exact type of brain cancer Gord has. I wonder if enough advancement can be made with it to help him..

Man, the depression suite just got me. This has hit me really hard - and as a UK fan I have precisely zero friends who even know who The Hip are.

I appreciate he has more things to focus his energy on than reading fan letters, but does anyone know how I might write to him or the band?

praise the heavens for vodka, what a shit day.

The shittiest of days, King. I've not been on here in years. Today I just needed to 'be with you all', if that makes sense. I can't quite get my head around this. Not Gordie. Anyone but Gordie.

I'm glad you came back. It makes perfect sense, this was the first place I thought of as well.

If you love the band this is the place to be.

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

Thankyou, Lizard King, much appreciated. I fear I may not be able to make it to Canada for the gigs (doing money maths at the moment), so would like to mail them.

just watched the press conference. they mentioned the album was written and recorded before the diagnosis ...it's funny how you try to look for clues and comments in the past 2 singles. just goes to reflect how people relate songs to experiences...even when they have nothing to do with the song, whatsoever.

and that's the hip. half of their albums and songs remind me of moments and times of my life....some small. some the most important. been listening to them every minute i get during these past 24 hours. and all of these strange memories just keep popping up over and over. this whole thing is just surreal. my selfishness just hopes Gord keeps recording as much as he can.

God i love this band. This whole thing sucks

Too many thoughts to sort through. In the past 24 hours I've felt sadness, anger, thankful, and an overwhelming melancholy. I can't describe how much I love this band, and the effect they've had on my life for almost 30 years. They've helped me celebrate the best times of my life and also cope with the worst.

All the love and support to Gord and his family, and the boys in the band. And to all you fans as well, thanks for sharing your thoughts and stories. Let's help make this last tour their best ever.

This has hit me hard.
The tour is bittersweet. I will find myself not wanting to leave when those final lights come on...

there is nothing I can say. We all feel it. The world will not be the same without him.
