I agree Tiger, the reffing was sketchy last nite. Im worried that because of Gary's warning to the refs that they will call more borderline fouls to keep him off their backs. I hope the referees dont ruin the playoffs with endless penalites.

I'm watching the Rangers/Devils game right now, and the penalties are ridicouls. I think the Rangers have been the better team 5-on-5, but the Devils powerplay has been the difference. 40 minutes is in the books and there's already been 15 powerplays between the two clubs!

And during every commercial break i switch to the Avs/Stars game to check up on it. I've turned to that game about 8 or 9 times so far today, and just twice was one team not on a powerplay.

The Devils are 6/13 on the PP!!!! Anyone have Elias on their pool team? 6 point game. And Jagr just left with what looks like a arm injury.

Sometimes living where I do sucks...
As of this moment, I have friends that are going to be at the HABS game as well as some friends at the SABRES game! Don't get me wrong, I'm sooooo happy they get to go...but DAMMIT, I want to be at one of 'em too!
Anyway, I guess it'll be channel flipping for me!

GO HABS & SABRES!

what a great second period...it almost seems as though that first goal of the game by Carolina woke Montreal up...

My god did RJ Umberger just get nailed by Brian Campbell, he doesn't have a clue where he is. Definitely looks like a concussion. Hopefully it's not as bad as it looked.

Good game between the Sabres/Flyers though, i just started watching from the last half of the 3rd, both goaltenders are playing well, lots of energy in the building, etc. Looks like Hitch made the right move by starting Robert Esche, 54 saves and counting.

Nice goal by Briere to cap off the win for the Sabres tonight. I love overtime in the playoffs - the REAL way to decide a hockey game.

I agree 100%...I've always said they should play (5 on 5) until someone scores in the regular season as well. I think if a team knows the "next goal wins", and there was no tie or shootout result to come, there wouldn't be many games that went past one OT period...especially if one or both teams had another game the next night.

It seems to be fine for MLB or the NBA to go to multiple extra frames to decide their regular season games...why not the NHL?

No there is no way you could have continous 5-on-5 overtime in the regular season. It's not going to happen. Before the induction of the shootout, i was hoping they'd increase the 4-on-4 overtime to 10 minutes instead of 5. The only other option i think is that, or maybe even then go to 3-on-3. That said, the shootout was an overwhelming success and it's not going anywhere. The one change i would make though, and a change that is almost certain to be coming, is increase the number of shooters per side to 5, instead of 3. The shootout is here to stay...but hopefully also to stay out of the playoffs.

What a hit! Confusedhock: That was something else, that Phi-Buf OT was great, what action. This is how rivalries get started, I love the playoffs.

Yeah that was some hit, although Hitchcock says RJ Umberger is fine and ready to go for tomorrows game? I was really surprised when i read that, i thought for sure he was done for the playoffs.
I'm still pissed over the Rangers game yesterday, 6/13 on the PP! WTF!
