Sarah Harmer---------open window (the wedding song)

love, i see you there
adrift on the air
floating by the open window
ah, the sentiment of love
reflections that speak of
what can enter when our hearts are open
here, witnesses appear
and recognize
how sacred love can be when stated
shared, shown for all to know
the beauty that can grow
when love is cultivated

our love is a sacred thing
like the mysteries of the night
in the darkness unwavering
and still so strong come the light
our love is an infinite thing
like the sun's last ray on the sea
as it sets low in the west
and the moon rises

If you see something that looks like a star
And it's shooting up out of the ground
And your head is spinning from a loud guitar
And you just can't escape from the sound
Don't worry too much, it'll happen to you
We were children once, playing with toys
And the thing that you're hearing is only the sound of
The low spark of high-heeled boys

The percentage you're paying is too high priced
While you're living beyond all your means
And the man in the suit has just bought a new car
From the profit he's made on your dreams
But today you just read that the man was shot dead
By a gun that didn't make any noise
But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest was
The low spark of high-heeled boys

If you had just a minute to breathe and they granted you one final wish
Would you ask for something like another chance?
Or something similar as this? Don't worry too much
It'll happen to you as sure as your sorrows are joys
And the thing that disturbs you is only the sound of
The low spark of high-heeled boys

If I gave you everything that I owned and asked for nothing in return
Would you do the same for me as I would for you?
Or take me for a ride, and strip me of everything including my pride
But spirit is something that no one destroys
And the sound that I'm hearing is only the sound
The low spark of high-heeled boys

Hotdogs and Hamburgers - John Cougar Mellencamp
Drivin' down on a dry summer's day
Old Route 66 and I was just a kid
Met a pretty little Indian girl
Along the way
Got her into my car
And tried to give her a kiss
I'll give you beads and wampum
Whatever it takes girl, to make you trade
She jumped into the back seat
And she kind of flipped her lid
She said you're tryin' to get something for nothing
Like the pilgrims in the olden days

We rode for a while till the sun went away
And I realized it was sort of an honor
Bein' around this girl
I felt embarrassed
Of what I tried to do earlier that day
She was the saddest girl I ever knew
She told me stories about the Indian nations
And how the white man stole their lives away
And although she kinda liked me
She could never trust me
And when the sun comes up
We'd go our different ways

Now everybody has got the choice
Between hotdogs and hamburgers
Every one of us has got to choose
Between right and wrong
And givin' up or holdin' on

So I dropped her off at some railroad crossing in Texas
An old Indian man was waiting there
He smiled and thanked me
But he saw right through me
I could tell he didn't like me
For my kind he did not care
Because to him I was the white man
The one who sold him something that he already owned
And it was like he'd been riding in the car right there with us
And I felt ashamed of my actions
And the way the west was really won
So I drove down the highway
Till I came to Los Angeles
The town of the angels
The best this country can do
I got down on my knees
And I asked for forgiveness
I said, Lord, forgive us for we know not what we do

Chorus

I Ran - A Flock of Seagulls

I walked along the avenue.
I never thought I'd meet a girl like you;
Meet a girl like you.
With auburn hair and tawny eyes;
The kind of eyes that hypnotize me through;
Hypnotize me through.

And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

A cloud appears above your head;
A beam of light comes shining down on you,
Shining down on you.
The cloud is moving nearer still.
Aurora borealis comes in view;
Aurora comes in view.

And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

Reached out a hand to touch your face;
You're slowly disappearing from my view;
Disappearing from my view.
Reached out a hand to try again;
I'm floating in a beam of light with you;
A beam of light with you.

And I ran, I ran so far away.
I just ran, I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.

A Million Miles Away - Rory Gallagher
This hotel bar is full of people,
The piano man is really laying it down,
The old bartender is as high as a steeple,
So why tonight should I wear a frown?
The joint is jumpin' all around me,
And my mood is really not in style,
Right now the blues flock to surround me,
But I'll break out after a while.

Yes I'm a million miles away,
I'm a million miles away,
I'm sailing like a driftwood,
On a windy bay,
On a windy bay.

I'm a million miles away,
I'm a million miles away,
But I'm sailing like a driftwood,
On a windy bay,
On a windy bay.

Why ask how I feel,
Well, how does it look to you?
I fell hook, line and sinker,
Lost my captain and my crew.

I'm standing on the landing,
There's no one there but me,
That's where you'll find me,
Looking out on the deep blue sea.

There's a song on the lips of everybody,
There's a smile all around the room,
There's conversation overflowing,
But I sit here with the blues.

This hotel bar has lost all its people,
The piano man has caught the last bus home,
The old bartender just collapsed in the corner,
Why I'm still here, I just don't know,
I don't know.

I'm a million miles away,
A million miles away,
I'm sailing like a driftwood on a windy bay,
On a windy bay.

I'm a million miles away,
A million miles away,
I'm sailing like a driftwood on a windy bay,
Send me away...

I will - the Beatles

Who knows how long I’ve loved you,
You know I love you still.
Will I wait a lonely lifetime,
If you want me too, I will.

For if I ever saw you,
I didn’t catch your name.
But it never really mattered,
I will always feel the same.

Love you forever and forever,
Love you with all my heart;
Love you whenever we’re together,
Love you when we’re apart.

And when at last I find you,
Your song will fill the air.
Sing it loud so I can hear you,
Make it easy to be near you,
For the things you do endear you to me,
Oh you know you will.
I will .................

This is a good song if you're in a sad mood.

Beautiful Goodbye - Amanda Marshall

Fed up with my destiny
And this place of no return
Think I'll take another day
And slowly watch it burn
It doesn't really matter how the time goes by
Cause I still remember you and I
And that beautiful goodbye

We staggered through these empty streets
Laughing arm in arm
The night had made a mess of me
Your confession kept me warm
And I don't really miss you, I just need to know
Do you ever think of you and I
And that beautiful goodbye

When I see you now
I wonder how
I could've watched you walk away
If I let you down
Please forgive me now
For that beautiful goodbye

In these days of no regrets
I keep mine to myself
And all the things we never said
I can say for someone else
Cause nothing lasts forever, but we always try
And I just can't help but wonder why
We let it pass us by

When I see you now
I wonder how
I could've watched you walk away
If I let you down
Please forgive me now
For that beautiful goodbye

Baby what can I do
All to get through to you
And sometimes I cry
It's a fool's lullaby
Sometimes I cry
It's just a fool's lullaby
I'm tired inside

Fog-Radiohead
aka-alligators in new york sewers
aka-alligators in the sewers

There's a little child
Running round this house
And he never leaves
He will never leave
And the fog comes up
From the sewers and
Glows in the dark
Baby alligators in the sewers
Grow up fast
Grow up fast
Anything you want it can be done now
How did you bad?
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?
Some things will never wash away
Did you go bad?
Did you go bad?

LATE AT NIGHT - BUFFALO TOM
I close my door at night,
But they get in all right,
And she turns on the light.
I held her hands so tight,
'Cause words don't come out right,
And she sees things at night.
Me, I'm closer to the door,
I don't get scared no more,
But I don't know the score.
If I could hold them in my hand,
I'd make them understand.
I'm not a haunted mind,
I'm not a thoughtless kind.
If I could put them in a jar,
I know they wouldn't scar,
I'd do it if I could,
I hope you know I would.
I close my door at night,
But she gets in all right
So I turn on the light.
I held her hand too tight,
Too hard to make it right,
So I could sleep at night.
If I could hold them in my hand,
I'd make them understand.
I'm not a haunted mind,
I'm not a thoughtless kind.
If I could put them in a jar,
I know they wouldn't scar,
I'd do it if I could,
I hope you know I would.
I'd do it if I could,
I hope you know I would.
I'd do it if I could,
I hope you know I would.
I'd do it if I could,
I hope you know I would.

"leave the driving" by neil young

out on the old coast highway
flyin' through the night
jed got stopped by the CHP
for speedin' and no brake lights

rolled down the drivers window
slipped his gun down under the seat
glove box full of cocaine
trunk was full of weed

"driver's license and registration,"
said the officer with his flashlight
searchin' around the floor of the car
smellin' like somethin' ain't right

jed's life flashed before him
like a black and white super 8
he heard the sound of the future
on a scratchy old 78

nothin' was still, all was movin'
when the flashlight found the gun
then jed pulled the trigger
in a split second tragic blunder

"makes you think about livin'
and what life has to tell,"
said jed to grandpa
from inside his cell

camouflage hung in his closet
guns all over the wall
plans for buildings and engineers
and a book with no numbers at all

the whole town was stunned
they closed the coast highway for 12 hours
no one could believe it
jed was one of ours

meanwhile across the ocean
living in the internet
is the cause of an explosion
no one has heard yet

but there's no need to worry
there's no reason to fuss
just go on about your work now
and leave the driving to us

and we'll be watching you
no matter what you do
and you can do your part
by watching others too

grandpa put down the paper
staring in disbelief
jed had always been good to him
and never gave him any grief

"the moral of this story
is try not to get too old
the more time you spend on earth
the more you see unfold

and as an afterthought
this must to be told
some people have taken pure bullshit
and turned it into gold"

Wayne - Chantal Kreviazuk
(Under These Rocks and Stones)

i'll be the girl with the long blond hair
and the really pale skin if you care
i sit in the corner of the room
cross-legged and quiet
filled with doom

i never ever liked the smell in here
it's cold and wet and reeks of beer
the lights are turned out permanently
but that's ok
cause i don't want to see

wayne wait for me
and take me up in your hot-air balloon
and feed me cotton candy
wayne pray for me
'cause i'll be there in a couple of years
until then, wait for me

who's the strange lady
with the big silly hair
and berries on her face
dressed like a pear
do i really have to hold her hand
and pretend she's my mommy
you're wife and man
(when i know you're not my mommy)
it's crowded and i feel lost in here
i'm trying to find a familiar fear
i look everywhere but i just can't see
there's not anything that reminds me of me

you made me feel as fresh as flowers
under these rocks and stones

Nathalie Merchant - The Gulf of Araby (thanks Mark  )
(written by Katell Keineg)

If you could fill a veil with shells from Killiney's shore
And sweet talk in a tongue that is no more
If wishful thought could bridge
The Gulf of Araby Between
Between what is
What is
What is
And what can never be

If you could hold the frozen flow of New Hope Creek
And hide out from the world they said you might meet
If you could unlearn all the words
That you never wanted heard
If you could stall the southern wind
That's whistling in your ear
You could take what is
What is
What is
To what can never be

One man of seventy whispers free at last
Two neighbours who are proud of their massacres
Three tyrants torn away in a winter's month
Four prisoners framed by a dirty judge
Five burned with tyres
Six men still Alive
And seven more days to shake at the great divide
The Gulf
The Gulf of Araby
The Gulf The Gulf
Of Araby

We would plough and part the earth to bring you home
And would harvest every miracle ever known
If they laid out all the things
That these ten years to bring
We would gladly give them up
To bring you back to us
O, there is nothing we would not give
To kiss you and to believe we can take what is
What is
What is
To what can never be

One man of seventy whispers not free yet
Two neighbors who wake up knee-deep in their dead
Three tyrants torn away in the summer's heat
Four prisoners lost in the fallacy
Five, on my life
Six, I'm dead inside
And seven more days to shake at the great divide
The Gulf
The Gulf of Araby
The Gulf The Gulf
Of Araby

Perfect Far Away-Bottle Rockets
She ripped through this heart of mine like a weed eater with brand new line
There was no blood and no, there was no gore.
She cut me clean she cut me fine I knew she never could be mine
Still I had been changed forever more.

I wonder if she's real I really couldn't say
Well I don't want to know cause she's so perfect far away.

I won't see her again I bet but I I don't think I'll soon forget
The way she first said "Howdy" to my brain
Wish I could say she looked my way, she never did but that's OK
I looked at her and never was the same.

I wonder if she's real I really couldn't say
Well I don't want to know cause she's so perfect far away.

I could try to steal her, try to touch her, try to feel her
Yeah I could try to make her be my own
Thoughts like these I've got to quit hey I don't want to ruin it
I guess some dreams are better left alone.
