From what I hear about "Ladder 49" I think that it may be a little too "feel good" for me to watch. My cousin (a guy) told me how much he cried so I am 100 percent sure I won't be watching. Not that I've never cried at a movie before, but I'm not usually into the whole warm, fuzzy feeling movies.
Yes, Joaquin, or however you spell it, Phoenix is in the movie and he was in signs. Travolta is also in the movie. There are many other good looking men in the movie. I've just always loved firemen, I can't help it!
Being the Girlfriend of a Firefighter, even if he's a volunteer, that movie wasn't very feel good. It just reminded me of how much danger he's in when he's out there fighting fires.
There are a few deaths in the movie and one of the guys is burned with steam. It's actually quite a sad movie, but at times it's very funny too. There are only a few times that are really sappy make you cry parts but I think the rest blances it out. There is also a surprise ending that I didn't really see coming if it was truly a feel good movie it wouldn't have ended the way it did and they probably would have made it about FDNY, not Baltimore FD
According to David, my boyfriend, it's a very realistic look at firefighting. He says Backdraft was a shitty hollywoodized movie about firefighting.
