it would be very interesting to find out if management is taking this seriously and has even approached the band about it. i just can't see the band not wanting to do something special like this for their die hard fans. i'm sure the stalling point with the hip wouldn't be money, i could understand if it was more of a timing issue.
curiously waiting.

Hey....
I've been a member for a while now (at least since last Winter). I had to deactivate my account and reactivate it a couple of weeks ago due to a change of email address. I just wanted to point this out in case it shows up that I've only been a member for 2 weeks when really it's been much longer... since if this show happens it's only supposed to be for people who've been members since before the summer.
Just want to make sure I don't miss out if/when this happens!
Cheers
NIck

Hi Guys:
I'm not certain if Mats has updated you crowds on the becommings of our proposal to the management. We are STILL working on it.
Believe me its taking longer than anticipated but it's NOT a dead issue.
Please keep the faith :-)

Could someone brief me on approx. where this "idea" is at? The Proposal is being written ? Who is writing it ? I have a background in this area and would love to see where the proposal is at and see if I can add any ideas to it?
Thanks in advance,
Jeffro

(ORIGINALLY THIS MESSAGE WAS GOING TO BE PM'D TO JEFFRO, BUT I THOUGHT I SHOULD LET EVERYONE KNOW AND HELP.)
Hey Jeffro,
Thanks for the interest in the idea. So far we have written a decent proposal but have only manged to present a brief description of the idea...with full intensions of sitting down and going through the plans.
We have been getting some e-mails from their management but nothing firm as of yet.
We recently sent another message to confirm that they understood exactly what our intentions were, specifically outlining once again that we are prepared to pay them a healthy sum. Since they have not allowed us to even tell them what we are willing to pay, we are concerned that they are thinking that this is strictly a charity event.
Though we were very clear in our intentions, even with it being a brief description, it has been a bit of a battle to get a decent response. In the mean time we have been very patient and have not put any pressure on them, so next week we will step up the effort with some phone calls.
Jeffro, understand that we are a good bunch of people putting this project together and the proposal has been deemed as very good. Again, I think it's just a matter of following up and getting ourselves infront of them.
Please though, any thoughts or comments on this project are welcome.
Talk to me,
Mats.

In my Humble pie opinion, I think you guys gotta schedule a meeting with their management team. Proposals, Phone Calls that stuff is great but these guys are business men, they wanna see if we got the goods, the plan, the money, the date and time. You gota be walking in their with a suit and tie, propasal in hand and stating exactly what you want. Theres gota be a thousand little intrickisies when it comes to booking a band like The Hip. They gotta know that you are serious, and that we got our shit together. And I think a face to face is exactily what the doctor ordered. Go to any little club inany of your cities and ask the manager what hoops they jump through to go out and book bands. maybe you guys already covered these bases and I'm wasting my oxygen
I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

I'd like to also add that maybe it ain't that hard too do  I think I need sleep :? but whats does Bills Bar do when they know the hip are trudging threw the states? Do they have an agreement to stop in every time there on tour? or HOB for that matter. And its not like were returning customers with a bank roll. Maybe thats why its not as cut and dry. I guess its that How do you get to be a roadie deal

cratch: There's no school for it. Sorry I wasted even more 0 two levels in the atmosphere

First of all I must congratulate the committee for all the hard work that has been put in to this idea and for having a written proposal to present to The Hip's management. I feel you guys are right on the mark in your approach so far. You have made contact and they know who you are.
You have to go to the next level and schedule a face to face meeting with them. Let them associate some faces with this idea and let them get a feeling if our group is honest and can follow through on its promises. Someone has to leave a detailed written plan in their hands so they can mull it over and possibly make a counter offer. Has someone also thought of the idea to have the director of Camp Trillium call and write a letter to The Hip management and tell them they are working with us on this idea and support us. That could be influential.
Special thanks to Mats for being a leader and ramrodding this project. It seems as if he is marshaling all the talent in the committee and it is coming out in a productive flow. Keep working hard everyone. All of you should be proud of what you accomplished so far! Get some face time with The Hip management and sell your idea. Ask them for a time period for a response to our proposal. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you proceed with this project. I hope I was not to pushy with my thoughts here.

OK, thanks for the input men.
Our issue at hand is getting a meeting. The concept is fine, the proposal is fine and the committee is fine.
We believe we have the right contacts, now it's time to meet them.
However, if you have your own SOLID contact who can benefit us, then let me know.
Right then,
Mats.

has anyone contacted the bar (owner or manager) in whistler where the hip played a couple of weeks ago to get any ideas of how that was handled and set up. Maybe they can help with contacts or any ideas they can offer from the experience.
