When I first noticed this thread back when it was first posted, I thought it was about Taylor Hawkins, the Foofighters drummer. I was always meaning to open it and post how awesome I thought he was based upon seeing them live during Edgefest. Today, I finally got around to opening the thread only to find it is about some chump from American idol...blech.

he's on American idle, he's a chump, any musician with any self respect or artistic integrity would stay as far away from american idol as possible...

Actually he's made enough money to buy new equipment and pretty much make his band be pretty comfortable for the next couple of years. The Taylor Hicks band has been known for awhile in the Southeast, kind of a big musical area, just maybe. He has no intention of dumping his band, which I think is admirable.

I would think getting on Idol, probably as a shot in the dark/joke thing, then suddenly finding yourself 10 weeks later, in the throws of the public eye, would be mindblowing. I'm glad Taylor is up there...he's been working hard since he was a teenager doing shithole bars in the South..
