inside the horn 54-40

witness all to the sacrifice
of a land that was paradise
through a desert ocean wide
nothing growing' cept the dying
they say there's famine still inside the horn
inside my head i see a lady
completley numb from the shock of war
wondering when if it's raining

gotta get you
gotta get you
gotta get you
gotta get you home

they say with love comes a bolder force
could make a life more worth saving
i could take her out and set her free
with her eyes in play she beckons me

you take my place
i'll take yours
falling
falling

gotta get you
gotta get you
gotta get you
gotta get you home

take a look which way the wind blows
gotta get it right
if there's rain in heaven i'm feeling tight
been around here for a year or more
i don't really know
let her go once and you're way out there

you take my place
i'll take yours
falling
falling

gotta get you
gotta get you
gotta get you
gotta get you home

Crash Into Me - Dave Matthews Band

You've got your ball
you've got your chain
Tied to me tight tie me up again
Who's got their claws
in you my friend
Into your heart I'll beat again
Sweet like candy to my soul
Sweet you rock
and sweet you roll
Lost for you I'm so lost for you
You come crash into me
And i come into you,
I come into you
In a boys dream
In a boys dream

Touch your lips just so i know
In your eyes, love, it glows so
I'm bare-boned and crazy for you
When you come crash
into me, baby
And I come into you
In a boys dream
In a boys dream

If I've gone overboard
Then I'm begging you
to forgive me
In my haste
When I'm holding you so girl...
close to me

Oh and you come crash
into me, baby
And I come into you

Hike up your skirt a little more
and show the world to me
Hike up your skirt a little more
and show your world to me
In a boys dream...In a boys dream

Oh i watch you there
through the window
And i stare at you
You wear nothing but you
wear it so well
Tied up and twisted,
the way I'd like to be
For you, for me, come crash
into me,
crash into me
crash into me
crash into me
crash into me

I'm the king of the castle
You're the dirty rascle
Crash into me
Oh see you crash into me baby,
'Cause I am swimming in your seas
And in your ocean
And I feel your waves come and crash into me
Oh yes I see the waves come and crash into me
Oh yes I feel the waves come and crash into me

I will be your dixie chicken,
If you'll be my Tennessee lamb,
We can walk together
Down in Dixieland
Crash into me,
Crash into me
hey hey yeah
Crash into me
Crash into me
oh, and you come crash into me.

So many memories......*sigh*...

Climbing up the walls......Radiohead OK Computer

i am the key to the lock in your house
that keeps your toys in the basement
and if you get too far inside
you'll only see my reflection
it's always best when you cry in his arms
i am the pick in the ice
do not cry out or hit the alarm
you know we're friends till we die
and either way you turn
i'll be there
open up your skull
i'll be there
climbing up the walls
it's always best when the light is off, it's always better on the outside
fifteen blows to the back of your head
fifteen blows to your mind
so lock the kids up safe tonight
shut the eyes in the cupboard
i got the smell of a local man
who's got the lonliest feeling
that either way he turns
i'll be there
open up your skull
i'll be there
climbing up the walls
climbing up the walls
climbing up the walls

Call It Democracy(1985) - Bruce Cockburn

Padded with power here they come
International loan sharks backed by the guns
Of market hungry military profiteers
Whose word is a swamp and whose brow is smeared
With the blood of the poor

Who rob life of its quality
Who render rage a necessity
By turning countries into labour camps
Modern slavers in drag as champions of freedom

Sinister cynical instrument
Who makes the gun into a sacrament --
The only response to the deification
Of tyranny by so-called "developed" nations'
Idolatry of ideology

North South East West
Kill the best and buy the rest
It's just spend a buck to make a buck
You don't really give a flying fuck
About the people in misery

IMF dirty MF
Takes away everything it can get
Always making certain that there's one thing left
Keep them on the hook with insupportable debt

See the paid-off local bottom feeders
Passing themselves off as leaders
Kiss the ladies shake hands with the fellows
Open for business like a cheap bordello

And they call it democracy
And they call it democracy
And they call it democracy
And they call it democracy

See the loaded eyes of the children too
Trying to make the best of it the way kids do
One day you're going to rise from your habitual feast
To find yourself staring down the throat of the beast
They call the revolution

IMF dirty MF
Takes away everything it can get
Always making certain that there's one thing left
Keep them on the hook with insupportable debt

"The situation hasn't changed all that much, except for the rhetoric," Cockburn said. "Whereas they used to talk in ideological terms, now nobody bothers with that - greed and control of resources is right out on the table. That song was an attempt to vent what I understood about the inequity of the 'north-south' economic relationship. That inequality still exists - I thought of that song a lot when all the protests against globalization were taking place in Seattle, Genoa and Quebec City."
-- from "Cockburn's musical passion - live in new CD, Anonymity doesn't stop, "Greatest Hits" collection", Denver Post, 8 March 2002, by G.Brown.

Runaway Train by Soul Asylum

Call you up in the middle of the night
Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a blowtorch burning
I was a key that could use a little turning
So tired that I couldn't even sleep
So many secrets I couldn't keep
Promised myself I wouldn't weep
One more promise I couldn't keep
It seems no one can help me now
I'm in too deep there's no way out
This time I have really led myself astray
Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there
Can you help me remember how to smile
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on earth did I get so jaded
Life's mystery seems so faded
I can go where no one else can go
I know what no one else knows
Here I am just drownin' in the rain
With a ticket for a runaway train
Everything is cut and dry
Day and night, earth and sky
Somehow I just don't believe it
Bought a ticket for a runaway train
Like a madman just a laughin' at the rain
Little out of touch, little insane
Just easier than dealing with the pain
Runaway train never comin' back
Runaway train tearin' up the track
Runaway train burnin' in my veins
Runaway but it always seems the same

Nothing Man
Bruce Springsteen

I don't remember how I felt
I never thought I'd live
To read about myself
In my hometown paper
How my brave young life
Was forever changed
I a misty cloud of pink vapor

Darlin' give me your kiss
Only understand
I am, the nothing man

Around here, everybody acts the same
Around here, everybody acts like nothing's changed
Friday night, the club meets at Al's Barbecue
The sky's still, the same unbelievable blue

Darlin' give me your kiss
Come and take my hand

Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights

Out on the wiley, windy moors
We'd roll and fall in green
You had a temper, like my jealousy
Too hot, too greedy
How could you leave me
When I needed to possess you?
I hated you, and loved you too

Bad dreams in the night
You told me I was going to lose the fight
Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights

Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy, I've come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy, I've come home
I'm so cold let me in your window

Ooh it gets dark, it gets lonely
On the other side from you
I pine a lot, I find the lot
Falls through without you
I'm coming back love, cruel Heathcliff
My one dream, my only master

Too long I roam in the night
I'm coming back to his side to put it right
I'm coming home to wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights

Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy, I've come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy, I've come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window

Ooh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
Ooh let me have it, let me grab your soul away
You know it's me, Cathy.

Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy ,I've come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy ,I've come home
I'm so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, Cathy ,I've come home
I'm so cold

bruce dickinson

living in a bubble of sin
money can buy you most of everything
fix your nose or the mess you're in
front page news you can share your views
with a population that wants to be like you
out on the strip - out on the tiles
same old greed bewhind the P.R. smiles

you arn all your entourage - to me you're all the same
to me
you and all you're entourage- playing foolish games

i don't want your big city shining
i don't want your silver lining
i don't wanna be a tattooed milionaire

he's got a wife - she ain't no brain child
ex-mud queen of miami
in his stretch cadilac he keeps her in the back with his
cd player and his bottle of jack

This one kind of reminds me of that Kate Bush song , kind of creepy lyrics , but a cool song too .

The Bonny Swans - Loreena McKennitt

A farmer there lived in the north country
a hey ho bonny o
And he had daughters one, two, three
The swans swim so bonny o
These daughters they walked by the river's brim
a hey ho bonny o
The eldest pushed the youngest in
The swans swim so bonny o

Oh sister, oh sister, pray lend me your hand
with a hey ho a bonny o
And I will give you house and land
the swans swim so bonny o
I'll give you neither hand nor glove
with a hey ho a bonny o
Unless you give me your own true love
the swans swim so bonny o

Sometimes she sank, sometimes she swam
with a hey ho and a bonny o
Until she came to a miller's dam
the swans swim so bonny o

The miller's daughter, dressed in red
with a hey ho and a bonny o
She went for some water to make some bread
the swans swim so bonny o

Oh father, oh daddy, here swims a swan
with a hey ho and a bonny o
It's very like a gentle woman
the swans swim so bonny o
They placed her on the bank to dry
with a hey ho and a bonny o
There came a harper passing by
the swans swim so bonny o

He made harp pins of her fingers fair
with a hey ho and a bonny o
He made harp strings of her golden hair
the swans swim so bonny o
He made a harp of her breast bone
with a hey ho and a bonny o
And straight it began to play alone
the swans swim so bonny o

He brought it to her father's hall
with a hey ho and a bonny o
And there was the court, assembled all
the swans swim so bonny o
He laid the harp upon a stone
with a hey ho and a bonny o
And straight it began to play lone
the swans swim so bonny o

And there does sit my father the King
with a hey ho and a bonny o
And yonder sits my mother the Queen
the swans swim so bonny o
And there does sit my brother Hugh
with a hey ho and a bonny o
And by him William, sweet and true
the swans swim so bonny o
And there does sit my false sister, Anne
with a hey ho and a bonny o
Who drowned me for the sake of a man
the swans swim so bonny o
