Eternal Sunshine...is such a great movie. If you haven't seen any other Charlie Kaufman films (Adaptation, Being John Malchovich), check them out!
I just saw "I heart Huckabee's". Great acting, but the plot just crumbles after the first half hour. It's a renter, folks.
I've been getting into some older movies lately. "Cinema Paradicio" is just an amazing film, and may be my favorite film of all time...also, I just watched Roman Polanski's "The Tenant". Classic creepy.

Saw The Grudge yesterday.
Those Japanese know how to scare (Sam Raimi does the job equally well though).
I'm frightened. Really I am.
Horror and psychological thrillers are my favorite types of movies. This one ranks up there with the scare factor and I don't scare too easily. Every time I close my eyes, I see images from the movie. That has not happened since I saw Halloween in the early 80's.
Even though some of the visuals have been done, its all about the timing. The movie plays itself out like your pulse. Your sitting there, in your comfy theater seat tensing up in anticipation of what is coming up...the tension passes and just as you release the kung-fu grip on the arm of the chair, BANG, there it is! Holy crap, what just happened? I just messed my pants!
Definately very Ring like, but IMO thats okay. A few plot holes were left open - probably for obvious reasons. Great great movie.

most recent the butterfly effect, which i thought was brill! although i am so way NOT an ashton fan. blah...but ive been all full of cinema retrograde as of late...watched the road warrior, romper stomper, withnail & i, clockwork...cos i love kubrick.
hey i know noone will feckin read this, cos this forum is top full of cliques and pricks, but in the slim chance any of you read this: who here reads bukowski? anyone?
p.s. the clique thing is friggin sad too, cos we all have one common denominstor: the pure, unadulterated love of the hip. at the last concert i attended there was this whole 'hip' chant mantra thingy in which brought us all together, but here...there is just typed words extending from cold shoulders.

Cliques? Nah... I don't see it, to be honest. Sure, there are people here who have wavering opinions on the wide variety of topics brought up here, but I think we're still one big family.
Now then...
Back to what this thread is about: movies. Someone had mentioned Waking Ned Devine earlier in the thread, which prompted me to watch it again. Blimey, what a fantastic little flick. I laffed my ass off, and right when I needed to. Whoever mentioned this movie, a big thanks.

Damn - I am going to have to watch that this weekend. (Ned Devine)
I bought it on VHS about 3 or 4 years ago - I have never even opened it yet.

Well, it's coming up on Halloween, and the tradition my house is to wait until the "young lad" is off to bed and partake in a silly, mindless fright fest. Each year it's a different movie comprised of some sort of ghostie, ghoulie or long-legged beastie. (Nothing too gory, I can't take splatter films). This year I'm feeling nostalgic, so I think "An American Werewolf in London" may be on the ticket. I haven't seen it about ten years or so, so I guess it's about time for a re-watch.
Say what you want about the crumby acting and out of date special effects. I've heard it all before. There is just something funny about the ease with which Griffin Dunne accepts, and perhaps relishes, in his "living dead-dom"...
I just think it's classic....

Heya K-Town...
My lady and I will be doing the same thing Sunday night, but on deck for us are the three classic monster movies on DVD: Dracula (Bela Lugosi), Frankenstein (Boris Karloff), and The Wolfman (Lon Chaney). Can't wait. Campy, maybe, but it'll be a blast...
Anyone else watching scary movies this weekend?

Scary movies?
Does "The Whole Ten Yards" count?
We actually plan on watching Van Helsing Sunday, since we probably will not be moving much after the Halloween party Saturday.

Shes HOT !
And should stick with television. She would fit in nicely on a Csi show, or maybe she could help save ER?
