I can't think of it right now, but I do know that if you're driving on the infamous DVP, there is another bridge that is pretty high up. The viaduct obviously has the subway under it, but there is another one that just looks like a regular bridge.

Further north, Millwood Drive crosses the DVP, and it is a very high bridge. Perhaps that is the one you are thinking of?

If a really person wants to jump, they'll find a bridge. But The Veil will definitely deter the impulsive people.

yeah, that's probably it. Could you imagine you know, walking on that trail there that runs along the dvp, being at the bridge and someone jumps..that would be terrible.

I think it's f**king awful when people involve others in their suicides. If you kill yourself in plain view of people, you will scar many people for life. Many won't ever be able to get the horrifying images out of their heads for the rest of their lives. If you're going to kill yourself do it ayt home with a gun or pills or something more creative.

There was an 80 year old man who rolled his wheelchair in front of a bus here last year. Now the driver can't ever drive a bus again because the memory tortures him. Just pathetic.

That's a horrible horrible story, I can't imagine how traumatized that man must be. I saw a person jump from an apartment building once, I was in highschool trying to pay attention to what my history teacher was saying and this person just jumped, it was horrible.

But I think suicide in general is awful and quite selfish to be honest, whether you involve other people in it or not.

I don't think suicide is so awful. I think everybody should have the right to end their life when they see fit and no Bible thumper should ever tell people they're going to hell if they commit suicide because it makes life seem even more bleak to someone in need of either help or a way out.

I just think you should never, ever involve someone else in your death. A just world would allow people who feel their time has contributed nothing and will never get better to take the fast track to whatever end awaits.

I sympathize with you for having to see what you did - I personally saw someone jump off the bridge over the harbour one day (I live practically next door to the bridge and one day as I was waiting for a bus someone did it). It's horrendous to see.

Yeah it was horrible, hope never to see anything like that ever again, and I'm sure you feel the same way. I just always find myself wondering, what can possibly have happened to this person to make them feel like suicide was their only option, their only way out? I mean I've been pretty down before but never ever would suicide ever be an option for me, ever. Sometimes I feel like its a cop out. These people die, find peace and the people they leave behind are left to clean up the mess they couldn't deal with. Has nothing to do with the Bible, I just find it selfish with regards to family and friends they leave behind.
On the other hand I can totally question that point of view. Committing suicide is not a decision one takes overnight and I don't think we can even begin to comprehend in the slightest, the state of mind one must be in to commit such an act.

I was at the Victoria Park subway station when a guy jumped in front of the subway with his daughter, I think it was, she was only about 2-4 years old, my memory isn't the best, but it gives me nightmares still.

I really have to disagree with that. When I was in high school my best friend died in a car crash. The school and the community were devestated and rallied around her family to give them support. Two months later a guy who went to the same school, and saw the sadness that surrounded her death, killed himself.

To me that was the single greediest thing that he or anyone else could have done. She did not have the choice to live; he had the choice.

You sure that was the sole reason he decided to end his own life..? the sadness caused by your friends' death? Maybe there were things going on in his life that no one else knew about. I'm not trying to justify what he did but it just seems so extreme.
