Just spoke to a friend of mine who works at the WWE's Stamford, CT. offices.

When word officially arrived yesterday at 4:30pm, the production team was only four hours away from a live global broadcast. The arena doors were scheduled to open at 5pm. The event was instantly cancelled and talent that was not at the event were instructed to get to the Stamford studios ASAP if they wanted to be a part of the tribute. It all happened so fast, and without full knowledge of the details, that what the WWE did last night was the only reasonable option, short of simply runing a clip show. I think their live acknowledgement of the event was necessary though.

When Owen Hart died, the company did scrap their televison plans and run a full tribute, what they took heat for was not stopping the event he died during, which was a Pay Per View special the previous night.

Apparently, because they are a publiclly traded company now, they can't knowingly do something that would cause them to lose revenue, so they can't cancel TV tapings scheduled for tonight. So, the plan is to, just as they did when Owen died, tape TV that includes nothing but matches: no storylines or soap opera.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that talent and creative staff are in a real state of dissaray and having serious trouble coping with this.

The company's website has removed Benoit form all references on their merchandise page. Even if you search DVD's he appeares on, his name is now gone.

This will be hard to deal with as a death, and even harder to deal with and understand as a murder/suicide.

P.S. The rumour I'm hearing is that Nancy, Chris' wife, accidentely (or maybe intentionally) killed their son, causing Chris to rush home as has been reported. There, he killed her and himself. Just baffeling no matter what.

P.P.S. Damn, just confirmed by CBC, investigators believe he killed his wife and son. I only met him once while I was covering this stuff, just really, really sad. Unbelievable.

I had a chance to meet him when he was in Kamloops...strangely, he was with Eddie, who are now both dead...what a fucked up life these guys lead, but nothing, absolutely nothing excuses him for what (if in fact he did it) he did

They are saying that it WAS Chris Benoit that did all the injustice:

I still think something isn't quite right.

Why did his wife call him to come home?

He left for a family emergency.....

I'd imagine she did something that set him off, and this was the result. Doubt we'll ever find out what, though.

its pretty sad when in todays world we still like to put it on someone else rather than take personal responsibility for our actions.how could she possibly have done something that would MAKE him kill her and his kid?

In an interview with ESPN.com on Tuesday, Ballard indicated that the boy had needle marks in his arms. The district attorney said he believed that the boy had been given growth hormones for some time because the family considered him undersized.

Wow. This guy was a real winner.

This story just gets uglier and uglier. Benoit had it all, fame, fortune, ultimate levels of respect from his peers and fans, and seemingly a good family. He should have been remembered as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and a good man. Now he'll just be remembered as a sh*tbag who killed his wife and 7 year old son... and then waited maybe a day before killing himself. What the hell did he do in that time in between? Go work out? Make a sandwich? Who the hell knows?

Just sad and f*cked up, that's all I got to say about that.

I wasn't implying that it was her fault, if that's what you're saying. Just that she did something that pissed him off, and things got out of control from there. The new details that are coming out are just creepy: Bibles left beside the bodies, kid was mildly retarded and may have been given HGH, Benoit hung himself with a weight machine cord, most of the texts to coworkers were either the address of his house or notes about the dogs. Weird, weird stuff.

Bibles with the bodies. Makes a great song/album title.

Who has 3 Bibles in the house? Did he buy them before he did this. Was it that thought out. Did he buy them after he killed the wife/son? Wait for the store clerks to have an inquirer story by the end of the week.

Me thinks the steroids or any illegal substances he may have taken will be a strong contributing factor for Benoit to do this.....

There are conflicting reports about his faith over the past few months, some saying he found God some saying he hated religion. If in fact he found God recently, wouldn't be unlikely having multiple Bibles around the house
