Listened to the album on soundcloud. Too many mellow tunes IMO. Where's the rock? Nice songs and all, but give me a break. I think Gord D writes about relationships too much. I miss the songs about history, Canadiana etc. Songs like Three Pistols, 50 Mission Cap, Nautical Disaster. Unmistakable riffs like Little Bones, NOIS, Poets. Their mellower tunes like Scared, ABAC, Fiddlers Green were amazing. Hidden gems like Pigeon Camera, Escape Is At Hand For The Travelling Man, and Thompson Girl were better than other bands best hits. Maybe I'm stuck in the 90's but their music was so much better top to bottom. Another ho-hum album from the boys. Disappointed yet again.

I'm loving the music of attawapaskat, and I like the way gord delivers the verses...the choruses take away from the overall song for me, but I'm digging the way that track was put together. Overall, I'm not really digging the album as a whole, though I continue to discover new parts that I like as I I listen more.

Good album, not great or what i was expecting. Some of the articles i read about this album said that the hip were going back to their roots with a harder, more stripped down approach. I don't hear it other than At Transformation, We Want to be it and Goodnight Att. The rest of the album just seems really over produced even more than Bob Rock's work. I don't get the whole echoing thing on Man Machine Poem. It makes Gordie's great voice sound really bad and would be much better without the echo. Hopefully my opinion will change after more time with this album. I have changed my opinion on past albums but i just can't see it this time.

Is it just me or is We Want To Be It better than most things they've done over the last ten years or so? The way Gord belts out "We're still happenin' as we speak!" is just epic. I love it.

Gord's vocals are really really nice on this album in some spots. We Want To Be It and Now For Plan A especially. Better than he has been in a long while.

I agree. I never got when people said in reviews of the summer 2011 shows that it wasn't a good song, or didn't get the crowd going.
When I saw them on 2012-06-30 - Niagara-on-the-Lake, The Hip sent the crowd in an absolute trance during 'Weaken' and followed it up with 'We Want To Be It'. They were reaching the apex of their performance with those two songs, in my opinion. They were rocking out so hard to those songs, and I could not believe the power behind 'We Want To Be It'. I think it's an instant Hip classic. There's no way it is not being played at every single show this tour, and I hope afterwards it stays in rotation to their setlists.
Also, a radio-edit of this song is a must, because I can see it being rocked on stations across Canada... if it wasn't for the loud 'Fuck'.
