If its true that the hip are playing the tent with a 3 figure cover charge, does anyone have an idea how I might be able to get in @ this point?
I'm posting from the closing ceremonies which is pretty close to hockey house.
Thanks guys

Is it happening?
I was hoping they'd be part of the closing ceremonies, but Neil Young was great, and I enjoyed k-OS as well. Way to go out with style Canada, good show! Right now i feel more like "The Proudest Canuck", rather than "the darkest". I will miss these 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, but never forget them. :thumb: Way to go Canada!

I wonder if the Hip couldn't work out a deal with any of the event organizers... I know all venues have been enforcing the strictest rules I've ever seen for a concert. I just find it odd that Canada's national band wouldn't perform once in Vancouver (especially since their 2002 SLC appearance). Even a couple American friends of mine who don't even know the Hip that well were confused that the Hip never performed.

I think it's silly. You try to celebrate our Canadianess by playing Candian bands. Fine. But when you showcase bands from Canada that are already famous in the US, I scratch my head. Avril and Nickleback are the antithesis of the evolving Canadian music scene, and to see them get more face time than fantastic bands like The Hip, Patrick Watson, Plaskett, Wintersleep (the list goes on: Arcade Fire ffs!) it gets to be discouraging- all this talent going unnoticed. I understand that the organizers wanted some popular acts to preform at the closing ceremonies, it just would've been nice to see some, even one, talented indie Canadian musician(s) up there instead of Nicklegay.

Is it me or was the "comedy" of the closing ceremonies really disappointing? Shatner was ok, Catherine O'Hara bombed, and i don't know what Michael J Fox was going on about (I guess the stuff was written by some Olympic organizing weirdos with very weak senses of humour).
